So, I am picking up a roller and some parts from a member on here soon. SMOK3 EM A11 if anyone has read his build/parts threads before. Just wanted to get some input and thoughts from the technical experts.

I am wondering if I will see a difference big enough to justify the cost difference with the below:
-LE1 Heads and Cam: .571/.587, 231/239, 108LSA.

1st Route: Put these on a stock 150k bottom end.

2nd Route: Take it out to a 383 and add them.

With the extra costs and down time associated with going the 383 route. Is it worth it with the above heads and cam, for the power difference I might see? i.e. If I'm going to see a 25HP difference, it is not worth the hassle and possible hold-ups to get it done before the Shootout.

-60E
-LPP LT's
-3.37 rear on a 275 DR
- 33-3400 lb car

Thanks for your input and constructive comments!
Any additional information needed, please let me know.

If you are going out to 383 you should probably see about having Lloyd take them out to the LE2 level. I wonder what it would cost to upgrade or if it would be better to have him do a fresh set and sell the le1's

If you're going to be working against a time constraint (the shootout), it would probably be in your best interest to do a freshen up on the stock short block (rings/hone and bearings).

If you are dead set on this cam, then you won't see much of a difference going from 350 to 383, and you'll actually see a lower power peak with the 383 than you will with a 350 (heads and cam staying the same).

I'm not dead set on that cam but picking up the package deal saves me time and money. I think they are about 1600 with the upgraded valves through LE. def want to at least freshen the bearings up.

Appreciate the input. Looks like sticking out the 350 for this year may be the best bet then.

cost was why we went with the LE2 Heads/Cam/Ported intake and put it on a stock bottom end. id stay with the 350. youre gonna be scrambling for the 383 unless you have all the money put away for everything and then some.

Hey Lloyd! I'll be able to let you know how my 353 21* setup works out real soon! Finally getting it ready for the rollers. Should be impressive!

EDIT: Also, surprised someone would stiff you like that. I understand things do occasionally come up in certain peoples lives.... but with all the help you provide, all the time you spend on the phone with customer (including myself) and the quality product you provide to a somewhat stranded platform, it would be nice if people like this would show a little more respect.

My le1/le2 with a 236/242 make great power to 6800ish with compression a hair below 13:1 and has been 10.5s at 3750lbs with a 100 pull. If you can swing it I would definitely do the forged bottom end, save your money up for a couple months and a 3.75" 4340 scat crank, scat h beams and some good forged 2 valve relief pistons will make you happy.. low 12s in the compression with some overlap and pump gas will be easy.. mine is a nitrous cam on a 112 and at 12.9:1 it didn't like pump but it likes E85! Patience is a virtue my friend!

What he said! Do it right and you'll only have to do it once! I'm speaking from experience. I'm running 11.2 compression and will be hitting mine with a 200rwhp shot. Most will tell you that more cubes is always better, but I wanted my bottom end to be PERFECT and properly balancing a stroker crank from SCAT or EAGLE takes a decent bit more cash and time, no matter what most on here will tell you. (my engine builder built Winston Cup engines for major race teams for decades, and he knows his stuff). It's easier to rev higher on a smaller CI and smaller bore engine. If you're on a tight budget, maybe consider using the stock crank, forged rods and forged pistons and letting it scream to 7k.

Honestly I'm not sure someone has apparently been telling people that I sell bad parts.

just wanted to straiten out that the original beehive that were sent on his heads were down to 125-130 lbs on the seat and would NOT work with the cam we did for him but they would be Ok with a CC 503, etc. The person that bought them is using them on a Cc 503 cam and will be fine as long as they were shimmed to 1.750" .
