So I found a used set of bbk mods with y pipe and a lm cat back also he's throwing in some bmr lower control arms and tourqe arm. All for 150$ not bad I usually don't do used stuff but in this case it's a steal. Now is it worth going threw the trouble to install them vs long tubes what kinda gains could I see out of the mids ?
thanks !

Are you sure they are "mid-length". The BBK website describes them as 1-5/8" "shorty unequal length". Or maybe they are an earlier header that BBK no longer makes?
Single cat or dual cat - BBK makes both:

i assume your talking about the single cat since you mentioned a y-pipe.
i have no experience with bbk, but i ran the edlebrock and switched to flp long tubes and didnt gain anything at the power level i was at. 340-350 range.

I've got BBk shorties on my 94. I really like mine. You can tell the motor can breathe better and it drastically changes the sound for good. I'd say power isnt anything too crazy, maybe 10-15 horse, but I'd say they are very worth it. They really suck to install to so be prepared. Lol.

For that price do it, you can use the suspension stuff, and sell the shorties for $100 at least and use that for LT's. Unless you need to pass emissions... V8s are meant for torque and long tubes are made for torque. Either way install will be a pain

Shorties would be fine if for a bolt on car but there will be very little room to grow. You'll be kicking yourself for installing shorties if you ever want heads and cam down the road. Nothing sucks more than doing the same job twice.

I have bbk shorties currently and i can tell you that there a joke... I hate mine. Plug access is horrible compared to my buddies pacesetters, and to top it all off one of the drivers side studs (connects the headers to the Y pipe) snapped off the first time I had to remove the Y-pipe to work on stuff. I ended up welding a grade 8 bolt in place to fix it... there a constant battle for me it seems.

Longtubes sound better and like englundjd said future upgrades don't like shorties. Thats why im saying buy em, keep the suspension stuff and sell the rest

If you turned around and sold the headers it will be as if you got the suspension parts for free.
