Welp I gots me another fixxer upper a couple weeks ago.
1996 s10 rcsb base 2.2 5speed 115k restored salvage title.
Bought pretty beat up and needing a lot of attention. $700 with a blown head gasket and rear damage. Front fenders hood and core support had been replaced with parts off and 98 Sonoma because of a collision still had the old s10 grille bumper and lights. Bed and tailgate were pretty beat up and a little damage on then passenger door from contact with the fender. Got a head gasket kit and got her running to hear the timing chain making some noise so replaced all of the also along with few other small things

Just after getting her fixed and cleaned up a bit
Then is was on to cosmetics. Picked up some stuff from a 99 Sonoma being parted out for a steal. Step side bed, tailgate, front and rear bumper, grille, both doors, rear sliding glass and a bunch of other stuff for $200.

and me new headlights and pigtails came in , so got those done.
Also have to find 3 of the 4 quarter panel extensions since they are damage beyond repair.

And how she sits right now, good little dd.
Just starting my own buisness so will be using this as my service truck until we buy a new van. Then I can hopefully start the v8 swap I've been wanting to do on one of these for the last 3 s-series trucks i have had.

with a 6spd.... ooohhhh yyyeeeeaaaa. Then reality hits and I remember I'm broker than broke lol But then again its tax time, haha. I was just let go and now trying to start my own company. If business takes off its the first thing I'm doing after I pay down a couple small credit cards. Couple running driving auto z28's for just over a grand around here. The wiring is where my biggest worry is. Cpw make a pretty plug and play harness but ouch $$$.

Got it about 3 weeks ago & I've had a lot of free time to get out going. New stereo, fixed the a/c, needed a tire, tune up, fluids, etc.. the head gaskets on these are really easy to do and only $60 for a gasket kit. Timing set was also very easy and was like $20 for the chain and $25 for tensioner/guides/gasket and crank seal.

Thanks. I think this little thing would scoot and be a total blast with a bolt on lt1 m6 posi.

Wiring would be a breeze with everything located under the hood. Literally plug n play. Now you have no excuse lol.
Truck looks good. One thing that could really set it off would be a step shaver kit

Lol I thought in read somewhere since mine is a 2.2 not a 4.3 there were a few extra things needed to be done. fabrication I got. Wiring and I don't get along haha.
Thanks. For the step pads on the bed? Ill look that up because that would clean it up a lot. I'd like to get rid of the rear bumper too, have a roll pan and shave tailgate and fuel door.
Once I'm able to actually start building id like to back half it. All tube, 4 link on coilivers, build a tubular control arm front end for coilovers, cage it an so on. Ultimate goal would be like a pro touring street and strip truck. Little low, some fat rubber 18's, Subaru blue with bronze wheels, (always liked to color combo) heck if I can figure out a way that won't cost me an arm an leg I would love to go awd.
So big of dreams, so little funds for them lol...

Stepshaver is the sides + roll pan. I got one on my jimmy that I can get pics of if interested but you kinda get the idea I'm sure. Wiring is cake. You can contact LEXTECH at s10forum.com and he can get the pin outs for any trim of s10 for you and pretty much just repin the pcm for an lt1 pcm. It runs the black box pcm doesn't it? That's what mine had for 97 and he gave me the pin outs to swap to an 0411 for faster processing so he should have the 97 2.2 available. Might even be able to just plug the LTX pcm into the connectors as is if ur lucky lol.

Mine is a 96. The pcm looks like an aluminum case. Two big plugs. I'll compare to my brothers 97 z28 pcm when I get home. Repinning and plugging in wouldn't be to bad at all.

Only two plugs sounds like the newer style pcm already. Repin in would be easy. Follow the LT1 pin out for everything from the engine/ transmission and then just pin in all the body wires where the new pcm wants them. All you need the s10 pin out for is to know what's what on the body harness.
The 1st gen swap is the one that sucked cuz they mounted the ECM under the dash so you had to deal with the firewall plug for all the wires. That's one reason I had to comment how easy the 2nd gen is cuz I'm jealous lol.

Dropped it down a little. 2 1/4" front 3" back.

Also checked bout the pcm's the close but the z has an extra plug.
Here is the 97 z28 pcm.

The s10 is almost the same but does not have a 4 the plug.

Truck looks good lowered. Probably has a bit better handling too. Springs/ blocks I'm guessing?
The s10 doesn't have a 4th plug? That's odd... maybe someone unplugged it lol. Still should be able to just repin if you ever do a swap tho. With only three plugs it still has to have all the same wiring.

Thanks. Yes springs and blocks. Feels a bit more stable.
Yea there's no 4th plug it spot for one.
Are lt1 mounts and headers the same as standard SBC? Ive never really compared. Found a guy local with s10 conversion SBC mounts and headers for $175.

You would use standard SBC swap mounts and bolt SBC clamshells to the LT1 block. Depending on the size of the header primaries they may work. In my experience you don't need d-port headers if they 1 3/4" primary tubes.
