First off I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this.
OK here's the deal I have a guy from a local parts store that has a 09 SRT8 challenger with a 6 speed really nice car by the way , he has a resonator delete and a cold air intake and a hand held programmer and I think he might be getting DR'S that's it . He's been picking at me a little every time I see him , today he called my car a sunbird and thought it was hilarious he knows what my car runs and he seems pretty cocky and he tells me that he has an in car 1/4 mile calculator that said his car runs 12.36 he's never had the car at the track ever .
So anyway we set it up to run each other in the spring do you guy's think he has a chance , I'm thinking I should be able to pull on him pretty hard.
I've raced an automatic version with full exhaust and the same mods as this other guy and I pulled several bus lengths on it . Maybe a bad driver?
If I can get my car to hook up and I can get the parts I've been neglecting to buy for it then I know for a fact I'll smoke his ass no doubt about it . My tune sucks dirty balls .

Ill tell you this right now if he dumps the clutch higher then 2500 be ready to laugh cause more then likely if his car is on drs the it's axle will break on either side seen it happen to three up at great lakes. The axle are the size of tie rods ur fine. The car is a boat if you can drive ur fine

I'm pretty consistent but I do have traction issues , I'm hoping to get that figured out in the spring. I've heard that about the axles on them .

What times does your car currently put down? And if he's never been to the track before, you should spank him pretty easily lol. Everyone screws up their very first couple runs at a drag strip.

My best so far was a 12.36 @ 114 spinning through 1st

I'd say you have nothing to worry about. I test drove an SRT8 Challenger and it's got some power, but it definitely is a boat. Felt like driving a small tank IMO.

Hahaha they are heavy I've been pretty confident that I can take him but he seems to have something up his sleeve so who knows . Plus I've already race one and won I suppose I'll see in the spring .

You own him!!!
I ran one that claimed to have everything done(lol) we launched from a green light typically i spun a bit but i was still out accelerating him. At the end there was a bunch of land between us, i pulled into the gas station and he said,"man i cant win against those Ls1s even with a 75 shot" I started laughing as i told him that he had just lost miserably to an Lt1!!!!! His look was priceless....

My dad recently bought a magnum needing a motor rebuild and we did research on them. Even the srt8 hemi isn't anything I would fear out of the box. Fully built it seems a lot struggle for over 550hp and top it off with a weight of over 4500. Like everyone else has mentioned even if it's powerful it has nowhere near a good power/weight ratio IMO

I just sold my 09 SRT8 Bumble Bee the other day. I had Kooks headers, slp exhaust, and a spartan cam.
With all that the car was respectable. But wasn't fast. With IRS and 4,150 lbs it took a lot to get it moving.

Well thanks all I'm starting to feel a even more confident than I was . I had a bad day yesterday and that guy just got under my skin and started to get me second guessing . Hell that hemi challenger i raced the i pulled so hard on him when he finally caught back to me he just couldn't believe it.

There's a guy with a really nice looking Challenger in my new apartment complex. Sounds great, he's at least put exhaust on it for sure. In my bone stock Trans Am, I was more or less door-to-door with him one day we punched it off the red light just outside our complex lol. It clearly has much more power than my car, but the weight is ridiculous. Still looks and sounds great though, and he was cool about it and gave a thumbs up.

It's nice when they are cool about it . I like the looks of the car and they sound pretty good with an exhaust.

When the SRT came out I had a guy who just bought one park near me at a car show. It still had t tags. I went to look at it and complimented him on his purchase. He asked where my car was and I pointed it out. He was unimpressed. When the show was over and we left he made a point to catch up with me at a light. I was actually feeling like crap that day (I still remember because I passed a kidney stone the next morning.) He yelled over to me to show me what I got. When I opened my cutout his attitude changed. When the light turned green I never saw him again... until the next light and his windows were now up and he was looking straight ahead.. lol
