so pretty much i have been renting my town house for about a year and a half and i already have over $18k in renting this place with nothing to show. i have been starting to look at houses but my creadit is shot from student loans so in 3 years i could get a house loan. but i was at my buddy house the other day and we started to bull shit. his parents own 3 or 4 houses in mn. but i ask him how much he wants for his 6 bedroom house. he said$$$ and ill take 30k off if you give me your camaro. so i have been thinking the last couple days and i think im giving him my tt383lt1 for a down payment on the house. ( i could pay the house off in 6 years and will never have to pay rent again) or keep the camaro and not have my own house for 3 years.

what would you guys do..

camaro tt383lt1= fun
camaro sell for $30k =dumb if i dont do it.
house paid off in 6 years
buy another car.

Thats a tough one. FROM a money/investment standpoint...its a no brainer...HOUSE. but only u will know if u can let go of ur car.

Personally I gotta say house trumps car at any value... House equals equity... Rent and car do not.

12 years ago I got my career... 11 years ago i got my house...
9 years ago i got my camaro...
3 years ago i paid off my house and now i play!!!?

I'm a fan of the American dream 4-step plan.

1. Find a good paying job
2. Get the badass car
3. Get the badass house
4. Live it up

Yeah but think about it this way. For now, it's "done," right? No need to dump thousands more into it to get it to where you want. One thing off the checklist. Next you can save for the house without missing the car or regretting selling it to have to build another one later on.

But at the same time where else are you going to get 30k for your car? I know how you feel about the car, but if someone offered me the kind of deal you were offered, 30k off a house I could pay off in 6 years, car would be gone.

I just bought a house, got approved without issue and that is with a truck loan and 4 or 5 student loans.

What did you do to mess up your credit so badly...?

Further more, would it be some under the table house sale not involving a bank etc..?

they own the house. we would draw up contracts and i would pay his parents. no banks. im stupid and didnt make payments for a year on student loan and they started to pull money out of my checks. its $450 a month roughly. and they want $350 on top of that. so i told them to lick it. so they get $450 a month. i told them im not paying 800 a month in student loans. and i have no credit to start. everything i owe is by cash. my finance does all the bills. so i just hand her the cash. i payed 21k cash for my engine back when tpis built it. 3 setups ago.

If it were me, he would already have the keys and title. Owning a home is a much better deal than having a toy.

You have more than 30K in the car? Is this house something you plan living for 10+ yrs? Condition of the house? Will you be house poor? Remember how long it took to get that car to where it is now not to include the money? Think you'll be able to do it cheaper next time around? Tough call. Could buy a house right now if I gave up the Z06. But at the cost I paid for it, ain't happening just because of the fact I'd never find another one that cheap in a C6Z as naturally I'd want to upgrade. LOL So for me, I wait and build up some more cash and get my house then. No point in having a house and no toys to park.

oh yeah stoped counting at $30k. about 45 to 50 in the car now. probley 60k into it with everything in the last 8 years. diffrent setups. blow parts ect. and truthfully if i already have a car in mind. if i do sell it. i would buy a newer 6.0l gto smashed in the front and repair it knowing I'm putting some 66mm turbos on it. the ltx engine cost way to much when trying to hold the hp and everything is hand made with the ltx engine. but my buddy just came over and looked at the car. now im going down to his place to check out the house this weekend. but the house is well worth the money. the only delimia is the house is a half hour south of my parents and i work about a half hour north of my parents. so really i have to drive a hour min each way to work than rush hour so really 1.5 to 2 hours

What are you goin to do with 6 bedrooms? Sq ft on this house? If you can recoup 50% on the LTx, might not be so bad. Have dilemma myself...cars not involved but still hard to pass up. Meets all my criteria except for location. Good luck dude!
