Hi all,

One thing I like to do every few years is upgrade our server to the latest technology. Our host was recently running a special which allowed me to upgrade to a much faster processor and to solid-state hard drives while only raising the monthly cost by $2. I went ahead and sprung for it and tonight I made the change to the new server.

The switch should have been pretty seamless for everyone that's using their computers. Unfortunately, though, I was just informed that tapatalk isn't working. I think it should only be down for a few hours until DNS catches up - usually DNS changes can take 1-12 hours to take effect. I'm sorry for the inconvenience tapatalk being down caused - I hadn't anticipated that it wouldn't work at all until the DNS updates.

For those using their laptops, hopefully you guys will notice the site being a little bit quicker to load pages and respond when you click to post.

Sorry guys -- apparently I overlooked a setting in the httpd.conf file which was causing timeout and slowness. I updated the setting and now it appears the site should be working for everyone including tapatalk.

No need to apologize. We appreciate all that you do to keep this site running so well. Thank You for keeping us up to date with technology.

I know I had several panicked members texting and PMing me last night, and I assured then we had our BEST GUY working on it.

Thank You Again Meissen.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys. Sean and Larry can both attest I was really working hard to make it a seamless transition to the new server. In the end, one silly line in the httpd configuration was all it took to screw everything up.

I've been on forums where "upgrades" take days and days, lol. It was seamless for me. I wouldn't have known unless I spotted this thread. Great work!

The only question that remains is...

did you perform this upgrade using the command line, or bash.

We're on a Windows 2008 server, but I did find mySQL Console to be the most efficient way to import SQL dumps while importing the databases from the old server.

Since the change it asks me if I want to leave the page when I reply to a thread. I though it was just my work computer but it's doin it on my laptop at home too.

I only use Chrome and I haven't seen that yet, so I just downloaded Firefox and I can confirm it's doing it in Firefox. I'll test with MiFBody and see if it's a server-wide issue or something specific to LTx's configuration. Either way, I'll get it fixed.

Edit: OK I was able to confirm MiFBody isn't doing it, so it's something specific to this website. Should be an easy fix, I'll just have to poke around. It seems like things related to AJAX aren't cooperating. When I edit my post, I click "Save" and the box isn't going away.

Ok thanks, FWIW we have IE at work but I'm not sure what version.

Replying doesn't pop up the window in Chrome, so my *temporary* recommendation would be to try and use Chrome for the site. Unfortunately I think the real fix to this is going to be upgrading LTxTech to the latest version of vBulletin which honestly I'm scared to do because I'm afraid it's going to break the site's theme. I might try knocking it out this weekend.

Edit 96LT1355Z28 -- weird, now I can edit and it works OK. Is the message still popping up for you?

Test reply in firefox.

Edit: Interesting - it appears that it's working OK now? Maybe some of the changes I made yesterday or today fixed this.
