A Little info on my car. It's a 97 Z28 6 speed car was bought in 2000 by my brother. We did bolts on to start with, and when he got bored with those we bolted a 6 psi powerdyne super charger on. Not long after he started going in to kidney failure. Not wanting to admit to money troubles he started running 87 octane. Car had been sitting because he was unable to drive it He asked me to drive it so I took it out for a spin I drove it around on the way back home stop in the road and lunch it when I hit 3rd car got a bad vibration. Car sit longer 3 years. He passed away in May 06 leaving me his car until My daughter turns 16 car goes to her. I tore the car apart in 09 finding 3 busted pistons and a bunch on spun bearings. My daughter is 12.5 years old now. She has told me she will never want to drive except to shows and the track. That's what she remembers us all ways doing He had the Z28 and I had 98 TA and we would go race once a month. We want to start a father and daughter build being finished on her 16th bday. What is the best way to get about 600 whp. She wants a one of a kind car. She wants to keep the LT1 but convert to a auto trans. mini tubbed a smooth 4 inch cowl hood ss wing. This will be a full build from top to bottom.

Glad it's staying in the family.
What questions do you have?

Sounds like a real good bonding project. Does it still have the powerdyne? I made 550-600whp on 7psi with stock bottom end and my built LT4 top end. (For sale ;) ) with boost theres lots of directions to go, some being cheaper or some being more reliable...

A tubbed 600HP Camaro for a 16 year old? Is this going to be daily driven?
The power dyne would be the place to start to get there. Good luck with the project, it's nice to hear it will stay in the family. Most people get something left to them and just want a quick buck from it.

Are you dead set on 600hp? That's a lot to start with. Could you maybe build it for boost but turn down the wick to under 400? There's a member here that's got a boosted ride under that level. It would be a great way to let her cut her teeth without getting hurt

Before the BS flag goes sky high, were the dyno pulls that big of a spread? Or might this have been a dream?
550-600HP on a stock bottom end and 7#'s?!?! Hope you sold that beast for at least $20k.

Lmao. Yessir, thats the setup I had at the 2012 shootout. Last dyno run was right at 550, and had a lot of street tuning after that. So somewhere in the area above 550hp and I beleive we saw 496tq. We changed a couple things and were doing more tuning, and blew two rings. crank, rods, and pistons were fine. Made the power on 7#, but was still running higher compression. :)

Was that with a stock cam? I hope I can get those numbers with my setup but I may need to talk to a guy about some heads...

Powerdyne was sold to fund the first 383 I built for it. It will not be a daily driver for her it will only get driven to car shows and for track use . I want some kind of FI setup but been thinking of building a 383 or 396 built for lots of spray. Will use victor intake with a TB adaptor. I want to make my own wiring harness so all wires can be hidden. Just looking for suggestions. What will make it different. The car looks and runs great now I really just want to do this for father daughter time since She doesn't live with I only get her on every other weekend.

Maybe let her run it at the track now, and start the engine build on a stand while she works with the stock power at the track?
I think it's a great idea for father daughter time an have the same kind of plan for my son. He just turned 10 though so I have a little more time.

Build a healthy 370 using a 3.625 stroke. And put a turbo on it. Its different and the parts are readily available. Put a 9 inch or something in narrowed 2.5-3 inches per side so you can get a deep dish. Put some wilwoods on all 4 corners. Go full tubular front and rear with 1 inch drop A-Arms with a good set of BMR/Strano springs and shocks. So its dropped like this
26574
And every guy will know that car is a threat:D

I finally got started tearing it down. Im thinking about painting it the same blue thats on my Harley, should I paint the engine bay blue or leave it black. Should I keep my 4 inch cowl hood or change it.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/03/pe2yvu7u.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/03/ru3yrume.jpg
