Anyone know about how long after a title transfer I will receive the title? Everything is paid off and my dad and I transferred the titles together and paid all the fees, this was exactly 2 months ago now and I haven't received them yet. Is there a typical wait time or is it kinda different for everyone? They are for my Ram and Camaro.

Who was holding the title before...a bank or a dealership?

Honestly I have no idea... this is my first experience with titles and both vehicles are totally paid off and as far as I knew, my dad had the titles... does that sound right? Or doesn't the owner ever actually receive the actual title?

Not technically... they have been "mine" always, but the title and registration were always in his name because he bought them from the dealerships with me and I paid him back. We finally went to the Brimmers and signed everything over to me. Paid the fees, signed everything and I still haven't heard anything in 2 months now. We told the lady it was a transfer between family, and we showed ID's and that stuff so idk if that helps... I can't remember exactly, but if anything, he might of sold them to me for a dollar each.

OK.. if the titles were in his name, they were his.. plain and simple (but I understand what your saying).

SO you did a sale from him to you to make them YOURS>

WHen you did that, you paid fees, and gave the notary/tag place the titles and everything was signed and made official.

You were then prob given pink pieces of paper for the title transfer...

The notary then sent your DADS titles off to Harrisburg....

Depending on the notary and how fast they get to stuff, it should take 4-6 weeks to get the titles back in your name if it was done IMMEDIALTY... odds are it was not.

They usually slack because with that transfer pink paper you are afforded time.

Most tag places/notaries now a days can do the new registration for you on line, and will hand you new registration cards in your name right then and there, although some are still old school and eventually you will get registration in the mail.

Idk which one your place was, but that will be the true sign of whether or not the process is working....

Now.... we bough an explorer on the 5th of october.... I just got the registration for it yesterday, two months later, so I know its registered to us.... and since I paid cash, the title should be here as well, but it has not arrived yet. However with registration in hand, I know its been legally transfered and either the notary republic was slow, or Harrisburg is..

EITHER WAY, if you want to confirm, call the notary and let them follow up for you on it.... but if you have registration paper that has it in your name now... you are good , just be patient... if you dont have registration paper or the title, then follow up asap with them...

Hope that helps and sorry it was long winded.. but that is why i asked so many questions first.

Alright I will give it some more time. The insurance and registration are all in my name now so I guess they are slow with the paperwork.

according to my wifes grandmother (she owns a notary in pa), she said that harrisburg has been dragging their feet bad since they had some plates stolen (they ship thru fedex) so everything is nuts down there right now. if you dont get it by 3 months go back to the notary.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll give it another month or so and make some calls or stop back at the notary if I have to.
