It's Chris Frezza......and QFT above. He and the other guy had to make out big time on that. But I bet Nine Ball and whoever it was did better with Tech selling out to IB.

Jordon Musser, back in the early 2000's, was running a 94 Z28 with a solid roller 396 into the 10's N/A. That was epic for a street LT1 back then.
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com/features/0211gmhtp_1994_z28_camaro_feature/
IIRC he sold the 396, went stock displacement N/A for a while, then went on to a 76mm Turbo setup, which was the divining inspiration for my own build.
Chris Frezza was one of the original CamaroZ28.com founders. Nine Ball was an original LS1Tech founder. George Baxter was running an (I believe) 8 Second LT1 30th Z28 back in the early 2000's. He's a friend of Fred a.k.a. Injuneer, who's also one of the old school guys in the LT1 world.

Sadly, they don't make out that good by selling to the other companies. Neither Chris nor Jason quit their jobs after selling CamaroZ28.com. I don't see Chris as often as I see Jason, but they both are still active in the Camaro community here in Michigan. Jason and I hung out with Scott quite a few months back.
Nine Ball actually frequents Camaro5.com quite often.

Jason Debler. Thanks Brian, I knew it would come to me.
I wasn't saying they made enough to retire on or anything, but it had to be a pretty substantial amount of money that IB paid given the site popularity, sponsorships, etc. I will say that it's awesome they're continuing to stay involved.
I remember when the LS1Tech guys started Planet LSx after the IB buyout, then ported all memberships over there. Boy did that ruffle some feathers.

Yeah, Jason Debler's a cool guy. So is Chris, don't get me wrong, but I seem to find myself running into Jason more often. Jason has brought donations a few times for the Meet & Greet door prizes. Plus he worked at the same company as my mom :lolsign: But yeah, Chris and Jason are still pretty active - they still do the CamaroZ28 podcasts and such.
And was Nine Ball the same person as Pro Stock John? I was actually just at Camaro5 and realized it's Pro Stock John who is active over there.

No, Nine Ball and PSJ were, if I remember right, the two co-founders of LS1Tech. Two different people though.

Where did you hear that it was sold? It went to ebay with a $20,000 initial bid and nobody bid on it. Unless it went up again and I missed it.
I started that yb thread 2 years ago, trying to get him to go to the 2012 LTx Shootout.

My friend Tiago ran in to him at an event (Jordon) he had mentioned CZ28.com and said Jordon really didn't have much to say about it. He has a Lambo now, seems to be doing well. One of our local friends was buddies with the guy who bought his old Z28 for a turbo build that never happened, this was in 04ish.
The thing I've seen with modified cars over the years people that tend to go nuts on them, tend not to keep the cars that long. They usually lose interest in cars all together or move on to different cars. With the nastier/wild set ups though, most get tired of the head aches and get out all together or go back to a street car. Some stick around and build nastier cars/set ups, but that's kind of rare. For a lot I suppose it was just a stage in their life, they have their fun and get out. You do see though, that a lot of folks with modified cars aren't really in to cars, sure they have an interest but it's more so to show off or be competitive.

Wait. Jordon has a lambo? Damn, he must be doing quite well.
Neil I've seen it too but there's a distinct part of the crowd that finishes their cards and keeps them. Remember Knightfire? He's still got his formula though it hasn't moved in a LONG time (I believe he's rocking a CTS-V also now). What you don't see from those folks is the constant interaction that was there during the build. They finish the build, play with it, and are still active, but because the build isn't happening, people aren't getting the exposure they were before.

Jordon had a C6 Z before that, he's come along way since fast black car days. Knight Fire, his name was Dean right? Lived in like WV or some thing, worked as a defense contractor? I kinda remember a thread where he built a really nice house. Didn't Joe Prince mess up the black car heads where they leaked water or some thing and caused a miss, that and AP(?) build you the worlds worst 355? I imagine some parts of those days you don't like recanting on. But you had your fair share of fun too, the TT C5, black car, purple car and your favorite, Mr Lincoln LS!

The only thing on those heads that Joe Prince messed up was not using sealant on the rocker studs. His porting broke through to the stud bosses (normal) and by not using sealant on the rocker studs I was getting oil seeping and vacuum issues. The heads performed phenomenally for the cam they had. At the time I had the baddest 224/230 (CC503) combo around laying 375/363 to the tires. Mind you that was 2003. Then came the APE debacle. What a POS company that was. Who in the hell shoves a 6.125 LS rod into a 355 LT1. Just wow.
Trust me, I pine over my C5 daily. Seriously. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that car. And I liked that lincoln LS too........was a great comfy ride, just unreliable. I'd rock another one though.

Yeah, CZ28 went downhill fast when Jason and Chris sold it to IB. It's a shame too, that really was a great place. Something like that will NOT happen here, I promise you that.

I think what happened to CZ28 was the birth of the 5th gen. I never heard the full story, but I've gotten bits and pieces from comments others have made. It sounds like early on in Camaro5.com's infancy, there were some leaked photos of the new 5th gen that hit the internet. It sounds like CZ28 followed proper protocol and didn't post the images because they were still GM property. Camaro5 went and posted them anyway. Everyone went to Camaro5 to see the images, and the site took off. Now it's the defacto 5th gen forum. LS1tech does well because of the technical forums and the 5th gen still has LSx engines. CZ28 was more 4th gen focused, so once the 4th gen became the "red headed step child" and the 5th gen took focus, CZ28 kind of went to the way side.
Truth be told, I know how they feel. Before the 5th gen came out, MiFBody was the defacto fbody forum/group. Now there's a Detroit 5th Gen group and the 5th gen owners tend to stick to that website and don't peruse my site that often. It seems like 5th gen owners don't like to mingle. For example, on Camaro5 most folks only like reading "Camaro Now" magazine because it's only 5th gen - they don't like "Camaro Performers" magazine because it has the "other" generations in there. When we hang out on Woodward Ave here in Detroit, the 5th gen owners will huddle and talk with eachother while everyone else hangs out together.

You always get that with the newest generation. C6 Corvette folks treated C5,guys like that. They're starting to get a dose from the C7 crowd now. Lt1 guys snubbed L98 guys. The list goes on. Its a mean cycle.

Yeah, I had a feeling. I know for 4th gen guys, we always joke that 3rd gens are mullet mobiles, "turd gens" etc so it seems only fitting that now the 5th gen guys say the 4th gens are ugly.

I think 5 gens are generally owned by an older group of people where as 4 gens are generally owned by younger people because of the price .
I think the drastic difference in the age and type of owners is what creates the divide and y they dont intermingle.
I never liked cz28 lot of childish people on the site who could wait to ridicule people.
