What is a good oem replacement for a 96 z28. I tired of my misfire I have new plugs new opti my cables are still good since the last time I replaced them, also how long are the injectors good for? I'm sitting at 142k and not sure if they've ever been replaced

When my injectors died (about 5or6 of em) when I would turn the key on but engine off if I had the rail popped up out I could lift it a bit and see that almost every injector was just dumping fuel. Urs probably isn't gonna be quite that bad. But if u unplug the coil and lift the injectors up a tad outta there holes. Keep them over them just lift them slightly. U can had someone crank over the motor and check to see of they all have a nice spray pattern

I'll have to try that thanks. What about seafoam has anyone done that I've read the bottle at auto part stores I've never used it before

What else have you tried diagnosing? I had a misfire for a couple years and I replaced every ignition component I could think of and swapped injectors twice to no avail. Ended up being some melted wires grounding out and my injector harness was brittle and showed wire on almost every injector. After I repaired the wires and wrapped them up properly it runs fantastic.

It maybe the wires also but I kinda still want to swap the injectors just on case so I'll know they are new ya know just one of those things and it has a new opti plugs and wires

do you have proper fuel pressure before the fuel rails? you should check that first incase it is your fuel pump or filter not the injectors

you can either bring it to a shop that does diagnostic work and have them test it or go to your local auto parts store and pick one up and test it yourself. hook the tester to the schrader (sp?) valve on the back of the intake and if you find you do have adequate fuel pressure while the motor is running, then its the injectors, if not, then its fuel pump or filter. just help narrow it down so you arent replacing something when that isnt the problem

http://shbox.com/1/fp_reg.jpgCourtesy of Shbox.... Hook a tester up, will have somewhere between 36 to 40 with the vacuum line attached at idle, with the vacuum line off it should be at 43.5..

OP
you really need to confirm if it is an injector issue before replacing them. Note that only 24 lb OEM injectors will work without requiring a PCM adjustment. Any other brand or diffrent # rating will require this.
you can buy a FP gage that screws on the schrader valve for around $35
You can get your injectors rebuilt for around $10-$12 each. I used www.crizinperformance.com (http://www.crizinperformance.com). Rich is the guy there. you get a B & A printout of what they flowed.

fuel pressure test will just rule out if there is enough "pressure" feeding injectors. One, or more, could be bad but checking injectors specifically needs to be done. Checking FP first rules in/out if issue is pre injector.....if in fact your problem has anything to fuel. Injectors are generally stable but can get dirty or fail

Yeah but idk if I have a fuel filter issue I doubt it I really think I have a bad injector somewhere I haven't had time to pop the rail off but hopefully soon I will be able to

The pressure test will let u know if u have an issue with pump or filter. The rails really easy to get out also to check on the injectors themselves
