Finally got to make a couple passes in my 97z at Knoxville on some good tires. Still have several issues to address, but I wanted to share anyways... Best pass was 7.56 at 93.179 on 1.71 60 foot. The car has stock ported heads, le cam, 383 -16cc dish pistons. I believe the car has more in it if i can get the bugs worked out, and maybe a little weight reduction. Looking to get close as possible to high 6s on motor by next year. I do drive the car usually at least 4 days a week so that may be a little too much to shoot for...

Thanks, I have gtp ported stock heads on it right now, the cam is a hyd 240/248 .592 on 114, moser 12 bolt with 3.73. I am having some issues with the tune and am having to shift a little lower than i should. Hopefully by next year I will have it ready to go and will probably swap to my le3 heads to see if that helps any.

Thanks, to be honest I am unsure of what clutch......it was in the car when i bought it. So far it seems to be holding up. Lol. The rear is a moser 12 bolt with a 3.73. I would like to swap with my other car which has a 4.56 but until i get the tune lined out i dont believe it will help due to re3v limiter being set too low.

nice times! I am running a similar setup but could only manage 8.3's with garbage 2.0 60's. Gotta get some parts from work so I can work on that. I was hoping to get my times around where you are with the 60' so that gives me hope that it is possible. What suspension and tires are you running?

Thanks guys, my best time on my old junk nittos was 7.89 with a 1.98 60. The 7.5s was on 26x10 Et Drags, I hope to get my 60 as little closer to a 1.5. I dont know if I need more rpm, less weight or a different gear. As far as suspension QA1s adjustable front and rear, Spohn chassis mount ta, Bmr LCA and panhard, Eibach drag launch kit. Whats some info on your setup Salvo?

Nice times there, about the same as my best run of the year. What RPM are you shifting at and where is peak power on your setup? I'm also in the same boat with a T56 and trying to get a good 60ft. I'm running the Strano/Koni setup with Strano sway bars which doesn't make for a good drag racing setup. My best run of the year was 7.55 @94.3 with a 1.74 60ft in a 550 DA. I was running 3.89 gears with 26" X 10" ET streets with 17" X 9 fronts. I'm swapping the gears to 4.30's and think it will help both the 60ft and the top end of the track as I was crossing the finish line around 6000 RPM instead of the 65-6600 I would prefer.

Thanks, times are real close. I was shifting off the factory tach at 6500. My pass was also on 26x10 with my 17x9s in front. At the time I wasn't aware the problems with my car were as bad as they are. I had it on mustang dyno recently and it made 405rwhp @ 5700 but after that it drops off...issues were present during that pass. According to Lloyd with that cam heads combo peak power should be close to the 68-7k range. Launch rpm was around 5k on that pass, next year(after tuning issues are resolved) I am going to try to take that on up to 6-65ish and hope for the best lol. Let me know how the gear change helps/hurts I would be curious if I haven't done the swap yet.

Those are real good times considering you have issues in the upper RPM's. Are they fuel or mechanical related problems? My setup peaks at 63-6400 and only drops about 15hp at 7100 rpm so I kept upping my shift point and found 7000 seems to run good. I would highly suggest getting a shift light, I have the Raptor from WS6store.com and it't under $150 and can program and install easily. You can probably knock some ET off just from not having to watch the tach and concentrate on driving and also much more accurate than the tach on the dash. I will post results from the gear swap, I really don't see how it can do anything but improve performance as it should help my 60ft (as long as I keep traction) and will put the engine in peak power across the finish line instead of 500 rpm below peak. I'm also considering a set of front skinnies to reduce some weight and hope to hit my goal of 7.2/7.10's from the car.

I believe a little of both, I am taking the engine out right now actually to freshen it up. While its out I'm also swapping to le3 heads. I did find out what pistons are actually in it, they are -22cc forged. So I am pretty happy with what it done for the first time on slicks.
