For those of you that care here is a short novel. My RS4 got the first production APR cupercharger a few weeks ago. Its a eaton TVS1740 pushing 14lbs of boost on my 4.2L v8 Audi... for those not interested in the novel there is a youtube clip and time slip below. Needless to say I hurt alot of feelings at the track. Took down an old nova on slicks, a cammed Challanger, a slew of Evos and a few 5.0 mustangs old and new.

Just last weekend (nov 22nd) I picked up my RS4 down in Alabama at APR HQ and so far I could not be happier. Everyone at APR was a pleasure to work with, their facilities are immaculate and the engineering and development team really blew me away. The amount of knowledge in that building is second to none. Having an engineering background myself I was quite jealous that these folks get to work on such exciting projects every day with some of the best technology and tools at their disposal. I got to talk to their tuners, mechanics and engineers all first hand and find out what really went into this kit as well as some of their awesome projects they are working on now (look for a press release from APR today!). After touring the facilities and meeting the team we loaded up 4 people in the RS4 and went for a ride. I must say that even with a car load the car just does not want to grip the road. The torque is out of this world! On 93oct you can break the tires loose at will in any of the first three gears! This is what this car was missing in the first place! After taking delivery I headed back to Atlanta making a pit stop to check out Road Atlanta's road course and meet up with some fellow RS4 owners.

Then I headed north back to PA. After picking the car up we drove about 1,000 miles back north making a 100 mile detour through the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If you have not driven this road you absolutely MUST. Stunning views and a great road to really enjoy a new car on.
Once I arrived home I had a new set of 275 PSS mounted on my stock wheels as my 255s were about dead and started to see what tracks were still open. The only drag track I had ever been to before was Maple Grove back in the day when I use to race my Pontiac but I had not been to any strip in a good 5 years. I noticed Island Dragway was doing a black Friday special so I called a few buddies to see if anyone was interested. We got a few VWs together and headed out. Upon arriving at Island we went through tech inspection, they didn’t even pop my hood, they asked if I had any "power adders" and i said I had an aftermarket supercharger. They told me I needed to rent a fire proof jacket which I had never heard before but they didn’t inquire what I was anticipating the car would run or anything like that. From there I drove straight out on the track and started trying to figure this car out. I had not really gotten a chance to even drive the car with the 275s on due to the holiday and such nor had I launched the car even once since I got it. The first run down the strip I ran a 11.8@123.xx. I pulled the car around and pulled over and got out, my hands were literally shaking I was so shocked how fast the car was. The launch felt so violent but when I looked at the slip it was only a 1.92, haha. I couldn't believe it. I also realized that I hadn’t powershifted as it just didn’t feel natural. The next pass down the track I forgot to turn the traction control off and ran a 12.0@ who knows what MPH but still put a good hurting on the Evo9 that was running next to me, haha. I made a few more runs slowly getting a feel for things and put down a 11.6, then two passes at 11.5, then I checked my tire pressure and they were all hovering around 40psi so I dropped them down and ran this pass against my buddies full bolt on MK5 R32 with launch control. This wasn’t my best run of the night but the car went 11.42@124.88 with a 1.71 60ft.

As you can see/hear in the vid I rode the rev limiter pretty hard on the 1-2, i just couldn’t get a feel for it. The 2 step launch assist hold the RPMs at 4300 but when you slip the clutch out the car just spins and hops all over the place before grabbing at about 7k and next thing you know you’re on the limiter, I felt like every single run I either slammed the limiter or short shifter too early. Even though a 1.71 is pretty respectable (in my opinion) I feel like there is still alot left on the table. Who knows. After the 11.4 run i was about our of gas so I filled up with 5 more gallons of 93 which put me at about 3/8 of a tank and hurried to get two more passes in. Everyone was pretty much clearing out and I hot lapped the last two runs with literally zero wait time. The next run was 11.36@124.75 with a 1.713 60 and the final run time slip is below.... unfortunately my friend with the GoPro had already left at that time so there isn't any footage, just the slip.

I was quite happy with the results for my first time ever taking the RS4 or any AWD to the track for that matter. Kills on the night included a new 5.0 mustang GT. A cammed dodge Challenger, a few Evos and old Nova on slicks. I can tell you that this car is quite a handful to get down the track but I do believe this is the quickest time to date for any RS4 excluding the APR shop car and the JHM shop car both of which were on light weight wheels. I ran my car with OEM wheels and brand new 275/30 PSS coming in at 52lbs a piece. The car was full interior with mods in my sig and a 235lb driver (me). Track conditions were very cold and according to the weather data, when I made my last run it was 23* out and a DA of -2706. In all honesty I really believe with more practice (or a better driver) this car is very capable of 11.0 or better but I guess time will tell.

Thanks for reading my book

That thing flys... now I understand why you wanted me to try to line up an awd dyno. Do you have any idea what the whp is?

Damn that has to be a fun car on the street. Congrats! AWD and 125+ mph I bet you can put it in the 10's after some practice.

I don't have numbers on 93 oct which is what these were run on but it put down 605hp on 104. Same pulley and all just a different tune file and 104 gas :)

Its an absolute blast to drive. Going to Atco on saturday if any one wants to come watch or run with me, haha. Thanks for all the kind words.

I was so close to heading to Island on black Friday but I figured traction would suck with the temps in the 20's so I bailed. Congrats on the time!
