can anyone confirm this? i have heard rumors that the new Colorado will have a 2.8L turbo duramaxx? im still not a huge fan of chevy trucks, but if this is true i think its a great steep for small trucks!

I saw something about it on Yahoo new that Chevy said yes to the diesel Colorado. I don't believe it will sell well. increased price tag over the gas engines will kill it unless it gets alot beter fuel economy. Usually the limit factor on the large trucks.is the engine on the small trucks the suspension is the limiting factor. Since a 300 hp engine with a 6 speed auto will be offered I honestly dont see a reason for the diesel. If my 13 1 ton can get 17s on the highway with a 6.0 im sure the v6 will do verry well.

they should've put a 4bt baby cummins in it.. in all seriousness that's pretty cool, small displacement turbo diesels are the new wave for a while!

Have they announced pricing yet? It would be silly to consider a small truck with limited towing capabilities, if a Silverado is only a little bit more. The new '14 full-size trucks can easily get 22-23mpg highway and tow 10,000lbs. It wouldn't surprise me to see a loaded Colorado Z71 4x4 with the turbo diesel being a $40k truck. Fuck that.

May not, the truck is already sold throughout the world, so I doubt its much of anything new for the USA.

Annoying how much people hate on diesels.

Annoying how much people hate on diesels. Its not a mater of hating on diesels. Its a mater of being realistic. That means putting them in there proper place at what they excel at and that is towing. People like to brag about all the other merrits of diesels but the fact is that the cost of them out weighs anything else. most diesel cars are 4-5 k over their gas counter parts and yet only yield about few mpg more then the gas counter parts. it takes a long time just to recoup that 4-5 g investment from a slight increase in mpg especially when you talk about paying 40 cents more per a gallon. In this truck I bet the diesel option will increase the cost of the truck about 6 grand. Most people will not for the money out for the diesel unless it gets crazy good mileage over the 300 hp gas engine they are offering in it.

BTW the only thing that stopped me from getting the Duramax in my 2013 gmc 3500 srw I just bought was the cost. my truck retailed for 37k for the W/T with a few options the Dmax option was another 8.5k. plus I they do not allow some of the rebates I got to be applied to the Dmax. so I really would have cost me closer to 10g more over the 6.0. I really wanted it but no way Im gonna pay that much more for it when I really dont need it.

I think if the 4.3 Ecotec3 was offered in place of the SIDI 3.6, this would be a much more solid driveline.
