I know that there has been a lot of discussions about supercharging an LT1, or a small block Chevy for that matter. I'll go through my thoughts wheather true or not, and I'll expect those of you smarter than me to whip me into shape LOL.
as I understand it, to get the best results out of an SC; a lower static compression is desired, LT1's strike out there. And if you go with a huffer of any kind air flow and valve size become minor players in the game of HP. so I was thinking, why is there not a manifold that could be put on an LT1 and a standard SBC. with the use of a few simple bolt on parts. IE one basic manifold, bolt on water passages, thermostat/ blank off plates depending on motor; and bolt on top plates for your choice of M90/M112/M122. it would probably not be a real cheap endevor but you would not need to spend so much cash on the heads. I have brought this up elswhere, and It keeps comming back to me, I just cant get out of my head. if a major player would develop it, I think it would sell like hotcakes on a cold winter day.

Well, there's a couple guys that have actually build custom setups. I know of a guy here in town, (wichita) that custom designed a setup to sit directly on top of his sbc. He's told me the hours he has in developing. Cant imagine the price that would make it worth it for him to sell...

Well, as I see it, a person that is in the market for a bolt on sc setup buys it for a specific platform. There would be no need for them to have removable pieces to adapt it to another platform. The standard SBC already has some pretty good options for roots blowers. For lt1 guys looking to have an intake mounted blower, an sbc setup can be converted the same way you would convert an sbc single plane intake. I believe it was Gene Zebley that done one that way for an impala ss. There was also a guy that was developing a kit for fbodies (cornwelltech?) but it never came to fruition.
BUT..... I'm not trying to extinguish your creative fire. If you have a desire to build something like that, do it! You never know....

I did some looking last night for a SC manifold, and found this picture of a Weiand Intake Manifold for a detroit Supercharger. then my poor lil mind went crazzy, what if I modified it to accept an Eaton SC??? hum???

Big problem with the LT1, especially in the F-Body, is room.

The maggie kit fits under the cowl for LS1s if you shim the K member down a tad.
Either way, a cast or machined intake to accept a roots blower is a ton of money up front before you even can be sure it works...

Gene Zebley built it for an impala ss. There was an issue with getting it to run right. A lean tip-in issue iirc. He is a member on here but I'm not sure of his screen name. Godfathersinc maybe?

I can tell you that the eaton blowers leave a lot to be desired. If i were doing an intake mounted build, I would look at doing a maggie or whipple base. Much more efficient and takes less HP to drive. I'm only seeing 12# peak out of my m122 and still seeing slip on a 10 rib belt with a manual tensioner.

Alvin of PCM's of NC (Formerly PCMForLess of NC) custom build an M112 setup on his 93 Formula years ago, using an offset intake like above. It worked very well IIRC.
