About 2 1/2 years ago I had a 55' x 30' metal building put up on my property to store my boat, tractor, mower, etc with the intention of eventually making it a shop. The first step was walling off the front half which I use for storage and running power to it. The back half is 30' x 30' and will be the shop. My buddy and I (who's dad does concrete and he grew up in the business) graded it last month with the tractor and concrete was poured Monday. I'll update this thread as progress is made, looking forward to any comments or suggestions from you guys!

^ my friends dad cutting the expansion joints. Not sure if that's what they are called but let's go with it. You can see the drain we put in. It's going to be nice to wash my car inside in the winter!

Drains indoor are awesome. Washing, degreasing, and bay clean up are made easier. Dont be afraid to mock up things to your liking and old kitchen make good storage for the cheap. Looks good so far.

Thanks for the tip about cabinets, I'm going to eventually add shelves, racks, and all that storage jazz.
Yea having a shop with a lift to tinker in has been a dream of mine for over a decade. My first year out of college (2006) I worked as a mechanic and it really got me spoiled with the lift. I'm glad I finally have the opportunity to own one.

Looks great. I hadn't realized how spoiled I was with my lift until 3 or 4 weeks ago I had to change the oil on my wife's car and the lift was occupied with an immobile car. Laying on the ground sucks anymore.

Started working on the air system last weekend. Compressor is a harbor freight (us general or central pneumatic) 60 gallon 5hp 2 stage that got good reviews online. Step one was getting air into the shop so I used 3/4" black pipe, running it up the wall then back down on the inside to help cool the air before the regulator/filter. I read online that 20+ feet is preferable but I'm around 10ft. which is better than nothing.

I still have to finish the drops on the inside with ball valves to drain the water. I purchased this kit with an extra outlet and hope to finish it up this weekend.

Yesterday I ordered the lift, trans jack, and a stiff arm and should be picking them up from the local freight terminal in a week or two. Can't freaking wait!

Remember to mount the compressor on rubber pads and use a flexible line from compressor to hard line.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to go with 1/2" rubber hose from the compressor to the black pipe. Right now the compressor is still on the pallet, I'm going to mount it to the concrete pad when I rent a hammer drill and bits to do the lift. I'd assume I can find some sort of dense rubber to put under the feet at lowes or Home Depot?

my compressor came with some rubber pads... they were pretty thin but they do the job.
i also drilled mine into my basement floor with a cordless drill... with a good bit it didnt take long at all really.

Just an FYI, it's recommended to pipe your "drops" like this. It helps a lot with water separation. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u3/jdhawk93/3450-02_L_17f636ec_zps9ce53e26.jpg

I picked up the lift tuesday and am going to start installing it tomorrow. Here is a pic of the air plumbed into the front wall. Once the plywood is up I'll mount the fittings

I don't think so. If you look at the first picture it's not just dented, it bent the post. It should run parallel with the yellow arm that's packaged inside it. It would be easier to see in a picture that shows more of the post. I spoke with the company I bought it from and emailed them photos. Hopefully it gets resolved painlessly since the damage was concealed by packaging, just nervous since I signed off on it at the terminal when I picked it up.

Most of bendpacks equipment is drop shipped directly from their warehouses. They are a pretty easy company to work with so you shouldn't have any issues getting that piece replaced.

Ouch that sucks. I had to get a fireplace for my parents and I was nervous signing for it too.
But nothing like a new lift.

Update: The new lift post should be here this week but unfortunately I'm tied up this coming weekend so not sure when I'll get it set up.
The front wall and workbench are done as well as insulation on the side walls and ceiling. The compressor is wired and that thing is a beast, from 0 to 160 psi quick like.

Apologies for the dirty car pics. On a side note I picked up two of the metal cabinets seen in the second pic off craigslist for $150 for the pair. Thinking about painting them blue to match the lift.

I wish I would have gotten the asymmetrical lift instead of the symmetrical when I bought mine. So much more room to open door!

When I turned wrenches my first year out of college my lift had an air outlet mounted to it and it was perfect, so I duplicated

Yea it's crucial with the crazy long doors on f-bodies. Just have to load heavier vehicles (trucks) more forward on an asymmetrical which presents post/door clearance issues as well.
