we had our first bit of snow, about 3 inches. all day i was terryified of driving home. it took me forever becasue the side roads arent plowed, the car has zero traction. i got stuck everywhere. i saw the highway was plowed so i jumped on there. doing about 40mph, the car mustve hit slush or somehting and just wrenched sideways. i slid violently close to both walls on the highway, finally regained control, checked to see if i shit my pants, and went on my merry way, cursing at the shitty snow and myself for not owning a less ridiculous snow vehicle.

Im so fuckin happy i didnt wreck the car. now it sits in the garage untill its sunny and dry.

my 3.4 was pretty good in the snow with proper tires. only lost it once.

Hence why I don't drive my fbody in the snow. I know I'm capable of handling it but traction becomes an issue with my neighborhood being a big hill. Once I get out of the neighborhood I'm fine because I'm careful and am able to assess situations well. (correcting in small amounts, giving myself plenty of time to stop, knowing what's going to happen next)

Me personally, I've been drifting around in the truck all week and love it. No problems whatsoever.

Yeah I never had any problem with my V6, granted I only ran it one year. My Z28 was a bunch harder. I thought having a LSD would help but I think it was the extra torque that made it harder.

Congrats!!!!

On not wrecking!

I couldn't imagine driving a Camaro, let alone a Z in the snow and Ice. That's why I keep my truck (other than it's paid for and it pulls the boat, and car trailer...)

My boss who is from Puerto Rico and lived in Atlanta prior to moving to Indianapolis drives a 94 Z as his daily. I'm assured he is going to get in an accident this winter as he really has no snow experince at all...

Again. glad you and the car are safe.

LMAO!!!!

I'm from Buffalo. 3 inches is a little "dusting". I know what you mean though, f-bods SUCK in the snow, even if they have excellent snow tires they still suck compared to a front wheel drive car.

Today we got about 10-12".

I have no clue what its like to drive in the snow, but I bet its scary when your sliding on the ice and stuff.. Good thing you didnt mess up your car!!

My old V6 actually felt a lot worse in the snow than my Formula. It was a 5 speed, and my Formula is a A4. Autos just seem to be a lot easier to drive in the snow for me at least.

The best way to describe it would be like driving with slicks in the rain..

I have actually done that in the cobra, ended up spinning out , luckily I didnt panic like most people would and I was able to not crash into anything but man I was freaked out!! I think most people would have paniced and like jerked the wheel all crazy or something.

Yep.. Thats what it feels like to drive a F-Body in the snow. There isnt too much you can do. You can get some snow tires and fill the trunk up with some weight, but in all honesty, it doesnt do that much to help. Its extremely easy to spin out.

I'm the other way around. My V6 was a 5spd and my Z28 (that I drove in the snow) was a auto. The clutch allows me to disengage the drivetrain faster to minimize spinning/loss of traction.

A V6 fbody with the proper tires handles fine in the snow. But you need snow tires and weight in the trunk. The open rear helps, a posi is NOT good in slick conditions. They prevent you from getting stuck but they also encourage you to lose control. My v6 5 speed did great in the snow the one time i drove in it, but ice was completely different story (however there were full size trucks sliding out of control too)

i drove my v6 in the snow all the time. only had a problem once and that was in the hight school parking lot. i stopped to wait my turn to pull out of the parking lot and my drive tire was sitting on a patch of ice. i couldn't move. i made a freshman push me :D it was fun to mess around with in the cauldesac tho.
