So to make this short - I've been running the Dynaspark for 2yrs now after running it in the DIII version for my Delteq and never had a problem ever! So a couple of months ago i sent my DS off for a refresh and a new Cap (Balancer was coming apart and dug a groove into it but no issues from it), got it back ran it two day's missing after warm and up high in RPMS - Hi Res code and I send it back two weeks ago. I got it back last Friday and installed it Sat morning and drove around quite a bit - in the afternoon when it got a little warmer and driving in traffic same issue AGAIN! REALLY CAR GODS (and I didn't even go ballistic when my Challengers timing chain broke under warranty)????????? Anyone else suffer failures like this????? I guess I'll send it back again but for the love of God and owning this POS for 17yrs this is the crap that makes me want to part it out AGAIN.

Have you checked the Opti harness connector for corrosion or damaged pins?

Popo and I have had similar issues with their newer stuff. I have one NIB right now that I got back after my 3ed bad one (mine was cutting out above 6K rpm). I put on a Delco while awaiting the Dynaspak and my problem went away. I don't want to pull the Delco off for the Dynaspark till it starts giving me trouble.
Injuneer, the Dynaspark's harness is fixed into the housing, that is supposed to be one of it's "bennifits" over others, weather resitant, etc.

But I assume the other end, like the MSD, has to plug into the connector on the bracket on the side of the intake manifold.

Have you checked the Opti harness connector for corrosion or damaged pins? Like Josh said the Opti harness is fixed but I did check the harness connection as well and did the proper procedure of unhooking the battery etc.... I hate taking it back off for the 3rd week in a row uhhhggggg! I see a 24X in my near future and will only cost me the same as 3 new Delco units - ( in my best sarcastic voice with a smile).

Knock on wood my Dynaspark is still going fine. Thought I had a problem with it last year when it would cut out once warm but that lasted a day and haven't had a problem since. Dynaspark, sounds like a super hero. lol

As Josh eluded...I also had issues with dynaspark.... When I switched over....we had multiple failures, right out of the box.... from noisy optis, to no start optis, etc....
Finally I got one that worked great, and it has been in the car for 2 years now (roughly) and possibly starting to fail (maybe my car shutting off issue, we will see).
ONE THING I STILL STAND BY.... DYNASPARK (Bob) has the best customer service ever. Having sent me 4 Dynas back to back to back when i was having the issue, to the point I had them all at once when fighting my issues.
Search through my STARTED THREADS if you want to see what i went through.
unfortunatley, if they opti is the issue again, i will send the dyna for a rebuild and sell it.... and replace with Genuine GM parts DELCO/DELPHI

I remember that thread now - and commenting on it. So now it's biting me (NO LOL) - I'll pull it off one more time and hopefully I'll get one that works, I will be going 24X in late Jan when the work bonus arrives. BTW- who has the best prices on the Delco? I looked at our sponsors but didn't notice any Delco distributors.

No problem, man. By the way, I recommend trying a Delphi unit if she can get them. Just as good as a Delco unit, but cheaper price.

Hi. I see you're in need of an optispark. I am an ACDelco distributor and their optis are all I recommend.
If it's for the '95 in your pic, I can get you one for $438.00, shipped to you.
If you send me back the old one, and they can use it, they will issue a $65.00 core credit, making your final cost $373.00.

WOW thanks! I will find a good core to send back as the Dynaspark on it now is worth more to me than the core charge. BTW- I'll need a harness as well since the Dynaspark has it's harness integrated.

OK, that's fine.
The harness on the ACDelco one is also integrated onto the unit now.
If you would like me to get you one, just send me a PM, and I can get you some payment options and information.

Yes, that was a Delco one but it was older and the other style opti. Those are different.

I have a bad feeling that I have an "opti" problem, so this winter I'll be changing that out. Gail, what is the price on a AC Delco Opti for a 94' non-vented, shipped?
American-Powerhouse
11-01-2013, 08:30 PM
That opti would be $516.00, shipped to you.
The core credit would be $25.00, so when I get yours back and they refund it, final cost is $491.00, shipped.
