pm and email not going through

I tried contacting a member to purchase something he had listed in the sales forum and the sent messages idoes not show the message. Curious if they areare going through? I'm guessing it has something to do with the post count, but it said I had enough posts to send a message.

There is a box you have to "check" to "save a copy to sent folder."
