I recently realized our bed is old. I got it when I was 15....Im now 37...so its 22 years old.... Im not sure what the life of a mattress is...but I think its time.

Many people have made suggestions in another thread ...but I figure I would start one here...amd see what everyone has to say.

KEEP IN MIND:
-i have a bad lower back.
-Im 6'4"
-im 260 ish lbs
-Its for two of us....

Thanks in advance.

Larry....buying a Sleep Number bed (we got the P7 model) was the BEST move I've ever made. Pricey, but good warranty and completely adjustable for what you want when you need it.

Again, we have a tempurpedic cloud and it was great for about a year. I wore a soft spot in it, rotated it, then wore a spot into that side too. The cloud model is the softest one available so if I had it to do over I would have gotten the firmest model and I don't think I would have had that problem.
Sleep number guys, have you had problems with the air pumps?

I visited the site...Im not seeing the ones that adjust up and down, just firmness. I want all the bells and whistles if Im gonna spend 3g plus... lol

And what is the biggest bed when it comes to sizing...cali king, or expanded queen?

And what is the biggest bed when it comes to sizing...cali king, or expanded queen? All Sleep Number® beds are available in standard industry sizes, and will fit into traditional frames and furniture sets, with the exception of our over-sized Grand King® and Expanded Queen.
Grand King ® 80” x 98”
Eastern King 76" x 80"
California King 72" x 84"
Expanded Queen 66" x 80"
Queen 60" x 80"
Full † /Double 54" x 75"
Twin 38" x 75"
Twin Extra-Long 38" x 80"
If you select a bed the next step is to pick the base. That's were you see the base you want. I have the P6 mattress. We've hade it 5 years and I love every nights sleep.

Now you've got me thinking about replacing my mattress too. I did a search for reviews and found this....
http://www.sleeplikethedead.com/mattress-tempvsleepnumber.html

I didn't realize tempurpedic had an "adjustable firmness" bed now. Seems comparable to the sleep number.

I bought a serta pillow top 2 years ago and paid 1400. Within a year I have my body print dip on my side. I weigh 200 and I'm sure it won't be good for bad backs

Yeah..I def think with the back issues...it must be firm or adjustable...soft is gonna allow my back to curve...and thats no bueno.

My wife and I bought a foam mattress a little over a year ago. It was great for the first month.... I've gotten nothing but shit for buying it since  I would never buy a foam mattress again - they retain heat extremely well but that means the bed warms up with you. I'm a very hot body sleeper - and if I get hot at night, I start coughing. When I start coughing, my asthma kicks in. When I really get too hot, I work myself up coughing to the point that I start puking. So needless to say - a bed that stays cool is very important to me and for that reason I would never buy a foam mattress again.

The other sore point with a foam mattress is that you really get your sleeping position squished into the foam where it leaves an imprint. I now "HAVE" to sleep in the same position or else I end up sleeping on a groove in the mattress which is no fun.

That said -- I wish I would have spent the money and gone with a sleep number mattress.

Other than a reclined C7 drivers seat, I stand with my previous post. :D
