looking good! what kind of numbers are you guy's expecting from this set up??
Eric@VictoryRacing
09-13-2008, 09:46 AM
It has been complete for about 3 weeks now. We dynoed it on Monday, but had a problem with the alternator not charging so it was having a few issues, but all and all we are happy with the outcome.

What did it put down? I am guessing depending on how much boost you are running, that it should be north of 750 RWHP.
Eric@VictoryRacing
09-13-2008, 11:29 AM
It made 550/503 @ 10psi with very conservitive timing. We were having charging problems, so modifying the tune became an issue. It was breaking up something fierce at 5400rpm, so we will get it all fixed up and put it back on the rollers sometime soon.

Given that only 10#'s of boost were ran, and you are still using stock heads, and that you had problems up top, I would say those numbers aren't bad.
After utilizing the full boost potential the turbo has to offer, on perhaps a race gas run (with the bugs worked out of coarse), I still think north of 700 RWHP would be achievable.
Eric@VictoryRacing
09-13-2008, 03:29 PM
We feel the same way.
The heads were reused from his previous build in 2000, so they are by no means the top of the line.
We originally spec'd it out to spin around 6500rpm, and be right around 20 psi when we are all done.

If this is going to make 700 ish with a T76, I can't wait to see what a TC78 will make on the kit

The setup looks good and looks to be on the road to some good power.
why a 4.10 ?
Eric@VictoryRacing
09-14-2008, 02:37 PM
That is a funny story...
Customer had gears from previoius nitrous build, and didn't want to buy new gears. The first day we drove the car we called the customer and informed him the gears were very loud and we were concerned. He stated that they had always been loud, so it was no big deal. He proceeds to pick the car up and take it home for the weekend, but we warn him not to get on it until we inspect the rearend. He calls us on Saturday, and says he was racing a Duster and blew up his rear end. Car comes back to us on Monday, and we tear the rear end down. It sheared teeth of the gear, off the pinion and sent debris everywhere. So with all the carnage he ended up purchasing a brand new set of 3.42 gears.
why a 4.10 ?

ha! well I guess he got the gear squared away now :)

Had a pretty sweet 355cid LTx a while ago. It was coupled with a Vortech T-Trim, stock unported heads, stock throttle body, shorty headers, and no intercooler, but still made 550rwhp @ 10psi.

Yep that includes turbo, waste gate, blow off, intercooler, down pipe, ect..ect.
You will still need to modify an exhaust to meet up with the down pipe, but it was only 3 feet. We actually matched it up to his existing flowmaster exhaust.

what sort of numbers would you guys expect out of a completely stock LT1 with a safe amount of boost(6psi?).

I wouldn't put this turbo on a stock cube engines. I would probably put a 60-1 or a 67. I would say low 400's on a stock cubic inch engine.

Yea that would most likely be the Mcleod... has he driven the car with the twin disk before?
It's an on/off clutch and very difficult to slip... I will probably have the same problem with mine when my setup is done, mainly because of my 2.73 gears.. but ill have a two step and will be on street tires so most likely ill blow the tires away

come on, you gotta admit that they fit the look of the camaro. i know that everyone has different taste, but i just dont feel that they fit the firebird/hawk cleanly.
the fronts look so clean without them...
is this your car in the post? i dont want to offend anyone. if this is your car, it is bad ass (i just dont like the fogs).:peace2:

i think those links will have all the info you need (i ended up calling them and ordering right over the phone). i paid 549 for the front and rear rims.
i did roll the lip on the inside of the fender. im not sure if everyone would have to do it, but my car is very low and i wanted to make sure that it didnt hit. i also pounded in the inner front area of the fender well a little to make it fit. not really that much work.
thanks for the compliment,
