recent headgasket roblem has proved itself to be far worse than previously thought...

30psi dry 90 psi wet compression test on cylinder 1. literally 10 minutes of run time after fixing the headgasket and getting the heads milled .007", think the number 1 piston is scored, but then again that rod MAY be bent and what caused cylinder 1 to go from running fine to the car wont even idle.

gonna wind up boring the engine out to .060 over, any issues with a daily driver 60 over with a d1sc 3.4" pulley combo?

might go with aftermarket heads, have ported stockers with big valve springs / heavily milled, some bigu nknown cam will probably wind up with a custom cut blower cam.

the only debate right now is should i find a new lt1 block to start over on and make a 383/396 or go with a 401 on the current block.

previous hp is in the 500's, what should it make now (hard question i know), and problems associated with it being weaker ?

Have the block checked VERY carefully, and if it checks out, you should be ok for a .060 over. But....why take it that far. If it's fairly fresh, you might get away with a 0.010 hone or a .010 bore and another .010 hone for a .050 over. Leave as much meat in there as you can.

its already .030.

ill see what it looks like when i work up the will power to yank the engine.

I realize it's already .030 over. What I'm saying is WHY punch it another .030 over if you don't have to. You could get away with a .010 or .020 instead of pretty much maxing out the block.

I definitely agree with Fastbird. Only do the minimum to clean it up. Another .030 is not going to gain you much especially with a blower already.

hmmm. the only real reason im more inclined to max the bore is the coolness factor of saying the car is now not only supercharged, its 400+ cid...

i dunno. saying its a 388 or 397 always struck me as odd.

when i get the engine out ill see what i wind up doing.

Watch out for detonation!

I would start over and go smaller and spin it faster for a blower!

No way in shit I would want a motor with anything over .40 no matter what the case. Having a 401 is just for saying "yo dawggg I have a 401ci motor". For strength and reliabilty, stay smart and go .30/.40

We have a DD N2O engine here with 60 over. Check the block well and even consider a short pour ;)
