I hussle to try to make ends meet. By that, I mean I do side jobs, and get what I can from my little Fastbird Performance gig.

First up, side job rant. Mind you I only have a advertising base of Craigslist, so maybe I'm inviting it, but 9 out of 10 contacts are people who can't even speak in plain english, or hell, even engrish or ebonics for that fact. I had a "kid" contacting me talking about doing exhaust on his 97 F150. Wanted to cut the cats off and do straight pipes, something truly unique in his words. Seriously? That went nowhere. But all I seem to pick up 90% of the time are phone calls wanting free advice to waste my time. Every now and then I pick up something and make a couple extra bucks, but that's about it.

But tonight. So I've started listing my Fastbird Performance stuff on ebay. Just to get some more exposure. Slightly higher prices and shipping tacked on the back end to cover costs. Made my first sale tonight, a O2 extension set. Buyer properly specified length needed, so all was good. I cut and made the extensions up, packaged them, and print shipping labels. Then an email pops in. "I need to cancel." SERIOUSLY? WTF! I am highly considering being a prick and holding him to it because it was via ebay and that's a "contractual commitment" supposedly. But really? Don't click the buy button and then an hour and a half later decide to change your mind.

People are pissing me off more and more.

At the very least, make him pay for fees, materials, something. If he doesn't agree, don't let him back out.

Well....it was a free listing so no fees there. If I cancel through eBay then I'll get the final fees back and not be out anything but the address label I printed. But its the principal of it. You get plenty of chances to confirm when making an eBay purchase. And this guy literally 59 minutes later said he wanted to cancel. If I don't get an acceptable response by days end tomorrow I'm shipping with delivery confirmation and he's stuck because there's no way I can lose a dispute then.

I have gone thru this at work with one asshat even going so far as to say "so what" when he wanted to cancel tires that I special ordered for his car without a deposit because the car was in the shop and my boss told him I might have to pay for them myself if he does not take them.
I was able to return them but I wanted to smash his face in because I would never do that to my fellow man.
I do now take a non refundable deposit on anything that I have to order now and maybe you should too in order to minimize any potential losses.
No way your being rude by doing that and it also says to you that the customer is serious about buying.

That's really unfortunate to hear that this happens to you so often, man. Have you checked out the Facebook page called "f-body "craigslist" and trading post"? There are a lot of active members and it's free advertising + word of mouth from others who see it and trash their friends who are in the market to buy as well. Active admins to remove any scammers and whatnot. I sold another optishield to a guy on there just yesterday.

People suck. I've been buying and selling F-bodies and parts for years and have had to deal with the same things.

I see you added me to the list, if it's ok if I do semi-commercial advertising on there then I'll post up some of my stuff.

As for the ebay guy, he literally said he screwed up and actually didn't need the extensions. I know he's not getting them cheaper elsewhere because I"m the cheapest around AFAIK. I decided to be nice and do the cancellation.

As for advertising your business, I don't think they'll quite let you post up your page per se, but you could take the pics from your website and post them up just saying "X-kit for sale, $xx" like you were just trying to sell something real quick on craigslist and they won't say anything. You could maybe get away with a little sneaky advertising by name-dropping in your ad, such as "Selling a brand new in box Fastbird Performance line lock kit for 93-97/98-02 F-body for $130 shipped to continental 48 states" or something along those lines. Don't add a link to your page, but you can sell your stuff with your name in the title of the kit and get attention that way. ;)

The mods on that facebook page are complete tools. I was banned for "high ass prices on used shit" as the mod messaged me. I was selling BNIB valve springs for $75 less than new.

Wow, really? That's retarded. Everyone is entitled to set their own price.. If it doesn't sell, it's the seller's problem, not the admin's excuse to ban...

Yeah, I thought it was kinda dumb to be banned over something so simple, but I've seen others banned for less. What really soured it for me was the admins message to me, and how immature it was. I could understand if I were trying to sell junk, or post whoring, but brand new parts?
