I have to say after watching it on top gear the other night, it looks to be a pretty bad ass car. That car, color makes all the difference from being an ok car to a stunner.

No, I didn't know that the General had relit the LT1 light.
But I am delighted that they have. Just spent the last half hour researching the good news… whatta machine. I am still curious how that direct injection is fired.

I was a bit disappointed it only put down 20rwhp over a stock ls3. Hopefully it responds to mods as well or better than the old LS

Revamped LS3? The LT1 is a Gen 5 engine - an entirely new engine architecture. This isn't like an LS2 compared to an LS3. This is like our LT1s from 93-97 changing over to the LS1 in 1998. Entirely new engine design, entirely new features, etc. First and foremost, the Gen5 engines are direct injected which is a huge departure from the LS series engines.
Now if you're trying to compare output, then yes I'd agree the LT1 is the gen5 equivalent engine to the LS3 just like the LT4 is the gen5 equivalent engine to the LS9.

DI is not just for emissions. It is for running very high compression too. The piston is compressing the air (getting very hot) and there is no fuel YET, so there is no chance for detonation to occur. The new 5.3 in the Silverado has 11-1 compression, the new 6.2 has 11.5-1.

I was reading somewhere (for the life of me cant find it now!) someone was talking about the development of an intake that uses an LS style injector and fuel system to bypass the complex DI computer and fuel system. I guess the injector port would be blocked off?

My local shop just got one for some testing and to be a "shop" car. They haven't touched it yet because they are at Indy right now. I'm sure they'll have it running 10's in a month, lol.

I'm sure that is their ultimate plan, but they are huge on bang for the buck mods, and careful planning. Mike is one of the best tuners in the nation, especially when it comes to figuring out what the auto trannies want. His shop is 6 hours from you popo!

I used cheap in comparison to buying a new c7..... I should have clarified, as a z06 can be picked up in the 30k range now.
As for selling the camaro..its hard for me to type, but as long as it stays in the family, I think I can do it.....

Depending on funds and time that is one of the plans for the rebirth of my 93 someday. The other is a C4 rear with a lt5/6speed swap. I am hardcore bout my 93. I love how I finally got it to look. I just hate the unreliability it started to develop.
