Personally, I hate using buffers. I know how to use them and have used them in the past, but I just prefer to do everything by hand. Its hard to get swirls when you do it by hand. lol

I dont really have a way to determine how much of a product each car will get. I will just do it until I am happy with the result (which is usually more than 1 coat of polish and wax). If I know its being driven a lot, I'm going to apply more wax to protect it, and also a stronger wax to help protect it better. If its more of a show car, I will apply more of a polish because its not being driven around as much. I still might give it several layers of wax though.

I've been taking care of Mike @ New Era's G8 GT since he bought it. Literally the first day he had it, I applied about 2-3 coats of wax to protect it as best as possible. I usually got around to doing it at least 1 a month applying new wax to it. Since its not really being driven right now, and is being used for testing new stuff on it, there isnt really a need for me to do it since its not being driven that much. If anyone went to the LSX Shootout, and saw Mikes G8 There, I literally cleaned that the day before as well as a few others that tagged along with him on the very long road trip. Since it was being driven an extremely long distance, I applied a lot of wax to it to protect it, more so than polish.

I just apply products until I am happy with the results. If I think I can make it look better or protect it better by adding more to it, and it would be worth it,then I will do it. If not, then I will generally stop.

Yep. You wont be able to take out those cracks.

And yeah, they should be able to just sand it down, prep it, and respray it. No big deal.

Black is a really easy color for painters to match. My Formula was involved in an accident around late september of this year, and needed a new Bumper and fender. All they did was just prep the new parts and respray them and I was good to go. They didnt even need to blend them in with the other pannels/parts on the cars.

With other colors though, you will most likely have to to that, but not as much with black unless the paint is in pretty rough shape and is faded.

You really cant even tell looking at it even up close. It matches very good and didnt require blending.

Reconditioned my step fathers chevy 2 summers ago. I had to drive it and couldn't stand the unsightly-ness. Repainted the wheels black and got rid of rusty hub caps, repainted the bumper, stripped paint off mirrors and polished the stainless, put the correct grill repainted on it. Then for the paint I used some random buffing compound, some mothers glaze really brought out the shine, and then mothers wax to protect it. Looked brand new :D

Some guy tried to use a compound on his hood (by hand) to remove a scratch. I had to use my Porter Cable w/ orange pad and 3M rubbing compound to get it out.
