Alright. Ive been running the piss out of my car for a few months now, cc503 1.6 rr's lightly ported heads, bolt ons. Yes my headers bang. Yes I run 93 octane

No matter what I do, I still get knock counts. Usually around the same RPM range (3800-4200) and pulls 5 degrees which will carry up until you let out. I have a wideband on the car and have had it down into 11 AFR's still with knock. I've pulled timing out, put timing in, taken fuel out, put fuel in. It doesnt happen at every WOT event but does still happen and at this point I can feel it in my butt dyno when it does.

I have the stock LT1 km and am not opposed to buying an LT4 one, would just rather not. I know I can tune out the KM but thats a last resort. Any ideas if what im experiencing is true knock, or that bastard cousin of his phantom knock?

Get an LT4 knock module. Its desensitized for the louder valvetrain that the LT4 came with and is proven to take care of issues exactly like what you're experiencing.

Lt4 module is not going to help if the headers are hitting the frame. I would address that first.

I didn't interpret his "my headers bang" statement like that.....but if that's the case the definitely get that taken care of.

The header bang on the exhaust is likely your cause. Some cars seem to be more sensitive as far as knock though. I have had some noisy comp rockers that still pulled a slight amount of timing with an LT4 knock module and the knock sensors desensitized in the tune, even though nothing was hitting and the motor never missed a beat.

i bypassed my knock sensor, runs like a striped ass ape now. my exhasust rubbed a little bit and m rocker arms make a ton of noise so it was retarding the shit outa my car.

I have deleted the knock sensors for people before, but I usually get a little more aggressive with the coolant temp timing correction table to ensure that the car is safe. In most cases, the car won't knock, but the engine has no way to protect itself.

i have a retard box on my car, so if it starts pinging or anything i can back timing off. i have it on there for nitrous anyway
