As some of you know I have been fighting various issues with the black car over the last few years. In the past 10+ years I have had the car it has been in the hands of multiple mechanics and shops to modify or fix various issues, and due to this it had electrical issues and other damage I was having to work around. I also wanted to have a car that I could enjoy on the street again, local cruises, picking the kids up from school, etc. The black car just ended up needing more than I was able to give it for the moment. So its time to retire her for a while and move on to something else.

The new build is meant to be something I can play with, drive around town, as well as hurt some LSx feelings.
1994 Pontiac Formula I bought a bit over a year ago for a daily driver. Came with a built 4l60e, 3800 vigilante converter, LT4 Hotcam, and 2:73 rear gears. All in all not a bad car but not what I wanted the end product to be.
https://sphotos-a-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1157750_354303618034034_868435134_n.jpg
First thing I did was pull the original drivetrain out (ALL OF IT) cleaned and repainted the undercarriage and engine bay.

Interior: Red/black seats (don't know what brand as they came with the car), Wolfe 6 pt cage, modified console to fit my aftermarket shifter

Exterior: Suncoast Ram Air hood. The car needs a full re-spray as the clear coat is peeling in spots but that will have to wait till I get the rest of the powertrain/suspension completed.

Yes the car will get a plate kit. Don't know what to expect out of the car, but it should run well.

Yes it will be a nitrous car.
The kit will consist of:
Nitrous Outlet 58mm plate, dedicated fuel system, it will use either my current MSD digital 6 or the new Programmable 6al, and one of the NOS electronic nitrous controllers, not sure if will be the NOS mini-progressive or the NOS Launcher system.

Finally got some time to get a bit of work done on the car this weekend. I managed to get the 58mm Nitrous Outlet Plate fitted as well as the solenoid mounting bracket and hard lines. Also installed the Madman Manual Steering rack to allow enough clearance for the Hedman Stepped headers.
Still to do:
Transmission
Driveshaft
Line lock/proportioning valve
Brake Lines
2nd fuel pump
Then off to the dyno for tuning. Any guesses to what its going to make?

I hated missing the last couple, but family comes before racing.

Got the transmission in the car, decided to go with the built 4l60e/3800 vigilante over the 700 for the time being. Next hurdle is getting the transmission cross member shimmed enough to get the clearance I need to fit the headers.
I also have the Nitrous Outlet plate installed. Will try to get pics up of what all was needed to make it fit. It took quite a bit of grinding on the IAC and the thermostat housing.

its still holding the jack stands down in the shop....with all of the hoopla around the Extreme street classes this year concerning the rules...uprooted, then "we will go back to the way it was before, to lets allow 30" tires and direct ports...I have lost a lot of my motivation to finish the car.
The car just needs to have a few brake lines made (ABS delete), steering coupler fabricated, fuel rails modified and bolted down, and then a few things tightened down...it really doesn't need much, I just need to get off my butt and finish it

Join the crowd, Mine also has been sitting in the same spot on stands since the shootout, hell Im even too lazy to drain the gas, still has the same gas in the tank, really all I need is to button up the line lock and brake lines and I do need another set of headers, The ones I have make it impossible to change plugs, besides, they are such a POS that the plug boot is actually riding hard on the header. My friend has a welder and some header pipe bends and says we can cut out the tubes that are in the way and weld in new ones, Hell I cant even get going on the brake lines so I doubt that will happen..

Ray, you still planning on running both classes N/A and P/A ? Or you going to see how hot it's going to be before deciding. I signed up for two classes extreme street and mod but if it's in the mid 90s again I may only run one

Got the baseline tune completed on the red car this past weekend. Didn't spend a lot of time playing with it...just wanted a solid starting place for the next round of mods.
LT4 Intake and 258/268 .6xx/.6xx 113lsa Solid Roller....you can see how the LT4 intake is limiting high RPM power when compared to the next graph. All in all I am pleased with the 25-30hp gain, and really looking forward to seeing where it goes from here 8)
