View Full Version : Last night at the track…
Well, the new tune does have the bottom end snappin' and poppin'… to be sure.
Sadly, she snaps to the top of the gear, rolls over and slams against the limiter, until she F i n a l l y shifts up repeating that processes very quickly, until the nose rolls over and she again slaps the limiter.
Here's some video…
Suffice it to say we did not have a particularly good night, won all the passes except for one, where we got RAPED!
It happens and it's never pleasant.
Best ET was 7.9, best 60 was 1.8 and best trap was 91. :disagree:
First two passes:

I went to Tulsa this Friday and only made two Nitrous passes, was on an all time record run looking at the incremental times, probably 8.80 to 8.85 even with some spinning at the line, but right at the 330 had to lift as it was drifting/spinning towards the wall. Some guy before us put some transmission fluid down and they cleaned the track, but not enough. Two cars after us put more transmission fluid from the start to the finish to close that lane for the night. Cars were putting water down from their A/C units being on as well. Really not a good night at Tulsa this weekend, usually is much better.
9.0 @ 148 mph with spin on the line from a little too much ramp off the line with a 100 shot.
Had some 1.27 60fts though.

That does sound unusual for TRP. I can see that at the midnights, but TNT nights aren't normally like that.
Luck of the draw I suppose.
Are you guys just at TNT for fun or is this in preparation for am event?

Just there to run, hoping to let the car eat 58Nitrous Jet ~200HP on a plate, but the only good lane had a line of 10+ cars and I went in the lane that just got cleaned. There was a awesome Promod there that made a couple of 60ft-100ft passes, they were running a methanol 14-71 blown car and were asking us how we ran the alcohol with the nitrous. They looked at us weird when we said race gas, methanol, and nitrous.

That sucks. I'd really like to see what it does with the big jet in it.

Yeah, that thing died a slow and agonizing death. The kid ended up buying another car, Cammed, Heads, Headers and a whipple… and tried to slither it into the race, until someone else let everyone know that he'd bought the new rig.
I was still willing to race him, but he wanted to back the race off and I refused to give him the extra time and he refused to acknowledge that he was going to be there on Saturday, which would've been today.
I got sick of the games and called it… Life's too short for that sort of nonsense.

I would suggest ditching the 5:13 gears as soon as you can...wouldn't be surprised if they are actually slowing the car down.
Yeah man, it's getting harder and harder to defend'em. I think we've had our fun with 'em and it's time to start getting back to work.

You Sir, are doing your screen name justice!
I had to bring the old Miata back into service, cause the tranny gave up the ghost in the wife's Caddy and I'm takin' it down to give it some lovin'… after a long hot, ridiculously wet summer sitting in the back 40.
As I'm headin' down to the closest car wash, I see a Porche Boxster up ahead and the paper tag is flappin' off the back bumper.
I catch him at the next light and get over in the lane to his left and motion to him to roll down his window and he does, despite being on the phone.
When he does, I tell him "You're about to lose your paper tag brother…" and he nods and tells me he's … As he's telling me whatever he said, I'm thinking that I know this guy… He's a coach… I think back Highschool… No, Middle school, No… Little League, No… Huh, must've been a coach at school that coached a sport I didn't play in. Basket ball, Highschool… HOLY SHIT! IT'S LARRY BIRD!
I knew he had a house down here, but I'd never met him. I just smiled and gave a thumbs up. He of course knew that I had figured it out and he nodded… I turned back to look down the road, resisting all the temptations to douche it up properly.
Coolest thing to happen so far today. Thought I'd share it.

Sweet mother… A 1.27 60? That's freakin' amazing. Our track was pretty well roached by the time we got there. But we were lucky to be there at all. LONG DAY.

I'd take it out this Friday, but it will be the 13th and I don't like to race on that day. Instead I think I'll run up to Tulsa and watch the Nitro Nostalgia cars qualify and/or blow up.

Amen Brother… 13 and Friday is some sort of cosmic reset. Bad Juju.
I converted over to the OBD1 and I'm FINALLY going to be able to log and tune my car and it's been 7 years coming. The programs and cables will be here Friday and I ain't EVEN going to take my baby out to swim in that cosmic cesspool. But I'll be there SATURDAY… despite double + gate fees for Bracket night and a tiny little TNT window.
