Ok I'm ready to install my LT1 heads back on the block. This is my first go round doing this so I just would like to know before hand as much info as I can.

I'm equipped with LE1 Sstock ported heads shaved .020", .026 impala gaskets, and arp 12pt head bolts with polished exterior bolts.

Torque specs and tightening pattern I will definitely need but any other pointers do's/don'ts would be much appreciated.

Use what ever specs the ARP's tell you to use and make sure you use their moly lube on the bolt heads and sealant on the threads.

Use copper coat on the Gaskets.

These should be the instructions from ARP -

Thanks a lot. I think that should pretty much cover everything.

Are these heads new or used? If used, did you have them checked to make sure they are not warped?

They are straight from Lloyd Elliot. With a fresh shave.

Also whoever had this block before me pushed the guide pins into the block is there a way to get the out or is I possible to install the heads without them. The block is on a rotating stand not in the car so I can turn it so the deck is level.

You don't need them but it does suck that they did that. Take 2 of your old head bolts and cut the head off. Screw in, just barley snug. Slide gaskets on then heads. Put your new bolts in removing the 2 guides last. Torque everything up and your golden.

It's definitely a great feeling when doing it yourself.
