i dont know much about solid roller cams. witch one will make more power. car only gets prob 500 street miles a year on it if that. eb porting is doing heads and intake. stock castings. joe o is doing the cam. i just dont know much about them. thanks for the imput guys

The lifter doesn't make a difference in power. With a solid lifter cam you can grind a wilder profile that will make more power at higher RPM's. Solid Lifter cams you have to set valve lash with a feeler guage like gapping spark plugs and heavier springs and or a rev kit is used with light weight valves and titanium retainers for high RPM stability. You can tune for track engine conditions slightly with a solid lifter cam by increasing or decreasing the gap or lash settings to slightly add/subtract lift and duration.

I would start looking at solid rollers when you have an aftermarket PCM for higher RPM, its not a daily driver so you will be running a big cam(>245int), and you put under 10k miles a year on it because valve springs start to become wear items.

For most people, and with todays valvetrain technology, you can run a surprisingly large hydraulic roller cam with a lot less things to worry about.

the only reason joe is doing the cam is because eric is doing all the rest of it, he said he still has a couple cams from him. they are good friends. i will prob only rev it to 6600 would like to run tens n/a then spray it some.

All other components and specs being EXACTLY the same......a solid roller cam will make more power through the RPM range.....and will also make more power at higher RPMs that a hydrualic roller cam.

NOTE: A solid roller cam will....absolutely....require 'more valve spring' versus a hydrualic roller cam with identical lift/duration/ect.

A solid roller cam with 240/248 duration will have less actual duration than a hydraulic roller with the same 240/248 on the cam card. The first few degrees of cam lift of a solid roller only reduce the lash down to zero. Basically there is slack built into the system with the lash that you set. You don't actually open the valve at all for the first few degrees on a solid roller cam. The same thing goes for the last few degrees as it is closing the valve. The 240/248 solid roller actually moves the valve as a 234-5/243-4. Todays hydraulic cams have very aggressive lobes compared to what was used back in the old days. For a 6600rpm peak a hydraulic cam would be ideal.Off topic- why don't you just buy Joe O's car? You'd be way ahead of the game, lol.
