Went to the inaugural Eastern Hot Rodder magazine's Street Car Showdown yesterday. Took second place. I was happy with that for my first competition event. Best part the event is going to be covered in their magazine.
It was a test of true street car run what you brung old school flagman heads up racing. We had to go on a 24 mile cruise with check-in point along the way to prove streetablity then go back and race. There was people taking video and pictures along the route and the whole day of racing. Some nine second "street" cars entered but it came down to me and a 69 Camaro that was half a second faster than me. I got out quicker but didn't have enough to pull off the win. I slowed the car down a bit for more consistency which I shouldn't have because it was heads up and not bracket racing. Also, rules said run through the muffler instead of cut out open. Car ran great and deadly consistent with three 11.4's, when I wasn't lifting early. Came home with a trophy none the less, had a great time, and proud to be part of a small group that made history by starting something new in my area.
