So I got myself into a bit of a project here with a 93 Z28 that has an engine from a 95 T/A. The wiring in it is absolutely terrible, there are quite a few plugs on the wiring harness that have nothing plugged into them, and I cannot for the life of me find out what they go to. Some of the wires in the car have 3 or 4 segments of wire spliced together to make a single wire, there are zip ties everywhere, 3 different types of plug wires (some of which are wrapped in aluminum foil because they are laying on the headers), wires ran infront if the radiator and across the engine, there are so many grounds randomly on the car. Whoever had this before me had no clue as to what they were doing, I also am not the greatest with wiring but know better than to do most of what is wrong with the wiring in this car. Any advice as to where to start, also if there is anyone near northern Virginia that could give me a hand with this cluster f**k or if anyone knows someone around NoVA that might be able to help it would be very greatly appreciated!

Your best bet would probably be to remove the harness from the car, grab a 93 and 95 service manual and get to sorting.

I realize that the 93s are different than the 94+. But what were you talking about when you said the PCM won't work. Did you mean a 93 PCM won't work since the engine is out of a 95 car?

The engine isnt the problem its the harness. You're best bet will be to convert it to the 94/95 harness and be done with it. Heated o2s maf etc. Going to be tuff to find 93 components

Also, another wire related with the car. The car came with an LT1 scanmaster, i just discovered this weekend that it was never grounded, but hooked up to the PCM and power. Before, I would start the car and it would flash rapidly. Now that it's grounded when I start the car it doesn't come on at all. The only time I see it come on is when I reconnect the battery to the car. When I do that it reads "Lt1 1.3" and that's the only thing it does until I disconnect and then reconnect the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have any of the instructions or paperwork for this. The guy I bought the car from promised me all the paperwork when I made the deal to buy the car. But once he got the money, he has since refused to give any paperwork for any of the aftermarket stuff on the car. So any help would be massively appreciated!

I am not sure which harness or PCM in the swap. He refuses to give me any info on the car. Is there anyway to tell of the harness is 93 or 94+?

Look and see what pcm is in the car. I highly doubt you have a 93 pcm with a 94+ harness. Take pictures and oost them if in doubt.
The computer is held in with two bolts pass side near the bulkhead

Anyone have any idea as to what might be wrong with the scanmaster?

Forget the scanmaster and get the harness/computer issue figured out first. If it's got a 93 Computer in it, the Scanmaster won't work.
A 93 computer will run a 95 motor just fine. There's only a couple of minor connector differences that are easily adapted (mainly the IAC connector).
Look and see what computer is in the car. The 93 ECM will have four square connectors all side by side at the bottom of the ECM. If it's a 94-95 computer, there will be four connectors, one at each corner of the PCM. This will tell you a lot.
Again, I'm going to reiterate, your best bet to sort it out will be to figure out what ECM/PCM is in the car, pull the harness, and using factory service manual schematics, ensure all wiring is accounted for in regards to the specific computer being used.

There is an obd scanner port under the dash, so I'm assuming its a 94+ harness and ecu. And I used one of the links that louvit gave and found what plugs were empty in the harness. The only empty ones that I didn't know what they were was the c100 and c105. But there is a pink wire that was spliced into from the c100 plug and the wire that is spliced into it runs from the plug across the motor to the fuse box in the engine bay. Anyone have an idea as to what this would be?

93's had an ALDL under the dash also, same OBD1 connector as the 94 and Non-CA 95 cars.
