As I'm waiting to build my motor Im trying to stay positive and optimistic. I usually dont care for these threads but I am kinda interested in what everyone thinks the motor will make.

Engine: 355CI LT1

Bottom end-
Eagle forged crank
Eagle forged h-beam 6" rods with arp 2000 rods
JE forged piston -5cc coated skirt
Impala head gaskets
Static compresion ~ 11.5:1
Top end-

AI 215 23* TFS heads milled to 58cc
Manley nextek beehive valvesprings
LE 242-248/582-585 110LSA
Crower 1.6rr
ported stock intake
58mm t/b

I'm thinking the motor should make around 430-450 to the wheels. Are my goals lofty?

Auto or Manual? I would say your goals are lofty, you are probably looking at 370-390 max through an auto. To many variables besides just the actual motor build to make a clean guess but that is what it should make.

Going through an M6. I would have at least guessed 400+ to the wheels. Your average h/c/i build makes about 410-420 to the wheels.

It might make 400+...... My guess was judging off of the MANY builds i have saw hit the rollers over the years.

Have you talked to AI yet? I orignally wanted their 215cc TFS head but they said for my rpm range (under7k) their 212cc 21* head would be better.

A properly spec'd 355 build with heads like that should make 450+ through a M6. Talk with AI and get their opinion on cam selection as well. You also might consider using the stock crank, it is plenty strong for a build like that.

I agree with you completely. the cam selected and valave train should pull all the way to 7k

That cylinder head belongs on a 383. It will work on a 355, but not a 355 trying to live under the pcm cap of 7k. If you had an aftermarket pcm or LSx pcm swap, and a big cam, single plane, etc, willing to rev well over 7k, then those heads would shine.

I've got those AI heads on my 383 and I love them. I also went with a spec AI cam, and they hogged out my LTx intake. Too bad, Im still using the factory OBD1 pcm, but I think Im using it to its fullest, until I figure out what PCM to upgrade to.

I have the AI TFS 215 heads milled with a LE cam in my 383. It's a bad sum bitch....

Just stroke the motor and be done with it. :)

The plan is to eventually move up to a 383 but for now this is what Im working with. So is it going to be a total slouch? I'm think its going to require reving to the moon to make any power out of it in current form. What are yall making power wise wit your AI 215's?

Around 450 through an A4.

Around 450 through an A4. I agree with a locked converter.

Dynos are just braggin rights. How about 11.0 1/4 miles times N/A?

That will work too. Especially when I get my s60 under the car and then I can launch the way I want to.

I'm running a 10 bolt ;) leaving off foot brake 2k rpm.

You are def not going to get full potential out of those heads below 7k on a 355 but the right spec'd cam is going to help. With stock ported AI heads, Intake and a baby 23x/23x/62x/62x cam the Impala made 430/390 through a 4l60e and 397/378 i think through a th400. The converter in the 400 is a little loose N/A but shines on the jug so those Numbers are probably a tad low.....
