View Full Version : Time for the stall
As you guys know from another thread, my car has a noise that is coming out of the torque converter so as I've been planning to get a stall for a while now I thought this was the time to do it. I basically got a 2800 rpm RevMax converter. I chose this one as my car is just slightly modified and I use it on the street all the time so I don't have plans of making huge power any time soon. I also got a tranny cooler just to make sure it won't cook my tranny fluid and then cook my tranny.. Here are the pics of both the stall and the cooler:

Today I went ahead and installed the cooler. It was not a hard job to do but it was not a 30 minute install as advertised LOL.. I placed in front of the AC condenser to the passenger side so it gets all the air from my passenger side fan. I didn't need anything apart from what came in the install kit and I routed the hoses to the side of the radiator with no issues and finally I didn't delete the factory water cooler, I did a serial installation just as recommended. Well I think it serves the purpose for now and it would be very easy to switch to one of those if necessary but I'm ok with this one

I'm planning on getting a new jack before I do the job man, I need one ASAP so probably I will get the jack next week and the following weekend I may do it. I'm excited to see if the car will feel faster off the line!

I have that same converter in my bolt-on car. To be honest I can't even tell it's there, feels completely stock.

It's ok, my main goal is to get rid of the noise on the actual converter, if the car feels faster is just a bonus, I just didn't want to go higher than that as I don't race mine

A stall was the best mod I ever did on my bolt on lt1. That along with a fresh tranny got me .5 at the drag strip.

I read your posts about it, actually that's one of the main reasons I went with RevMax :D

No worries man. So you didn't feel even a slight difference? I see you have 381 LT1 that makes 11.20 on the 1/4 mile, that's not a bolt on car :finger: I guess you have another one? What brand is your 2800 converter?

From Amazon man, it is a Hayden Ultra-Cool 403 in case you're looking for that info

That motivates me but I guess you went with a higher stall?

Yeah, I also have a bolt on car I've been putting together, it has the same Revmax 2800 you just got. It's nice and tight. It feels like stock to me, of course I didn't drive the car for about a year before I put it in so I didn't have a back to back so to say kind of test. I'm certain you'll be happy with it. Revmax makes a nice converter for the price. The converter in my car you see here is a 4000 Edge Racing.

I'd better keep my expectations low :(

Yeah maybe you're just comparing against the 4000 so you feel it very weak. I'll let you know how I feel mine once I install it. I didn't want to go any higher for several reasons, for instance fuel mileage as my car is mostly street driven and never raced and also I didn't want to put too much stress on my stock tranny, I've already blown a tranny and don't want to be there any time soon again. We'll see, hopefully as I've been driving mine for about 3 years with the stock converter I may feel at least a slight difference

The stall I referred to earlier was a 2800 vigilante. It made a very noticeable difference vs stock. It however was still streetable, city mpg went down, hwy went up.

No... U are correct...thats where the humor comes in.
Its also another way to say that sex acts on a male organ were performed orally (by mouth).
So when u said u had "blown" ur trans...i responded with something that would say u may have burnt ur lips cause it would have prob been hot...get it...when u "BLEW" it.
Lol.

LOL lemme break it down. And this is ALL IN GOOD FUN, PLEASE DON'T TAKE OFFENCE....
So your original statement said "I dont want to blow a tranny again"
Sometimes we call a transvestite a "tranny". So it was funny when you said you don't want blow a tranny because it sounded like you were saying "man I don't want to give oral pleasure to a transvestite again, that was horrible."
Then Larry comes in with the "neosporin and ChapStick". Neosporin is used for burns or infections and ChapStick for chapped lips. Both of which would be needed if someone did if fact give a "blow a tranny".....
Ahh I need a shower lol
