Hello all! long time reader just registered so i can post a question and chat with yall!!

so here is my question.

how do i get my 95 firehawk to be more driver friendly??? lol

Ill explain, just got her recently and she shifts like im drag racing all the time (super hard). even when i am just putting down the road the 1>2 shift will put your head on the rest if your not expecting it.... I did all the normal tune up stuff, filters (air fuel trans), plugs (pain...pain...pain) wires, new belt. no change, infact it got worse (runs better=shifts harder )
so i assumed it was the tune the previous owner put on it..... 17 yr old kid with a laptop :(.... anywho ive done tons of research and am a fairly intellegent feller but for the life of me cant figure these numbers out mine are way different than the stock bins iv downloaded to compare to!

tuner pro rt and winflash.....

so here i ask if some one would be nice enough to take a quick peek at my .bin and just let me know if i should flash back to stock and begin again or if its normal and should just proceed from there.... i honestly cant find too much data (scholars or tables) that are the same between a downloaded stock bin and mine i ripped from the hawk.

question #2 my ses lamp is inop (he removed the bulb and the lil lamp holder would that b effecting my computers actions on driveability? imma move the one from tcs or brake to the ses and see if there is a diff....

heres the details on the car
95 firehawk #524....LT1--underdrive crank pulley is all i know thats not stock
4l60E stock i assume....
3.73 rear gears runnin c5 corvette wheels with 305/30r19's
tcs and abs are inop

it wont let me attach the .bin file.... so i can email it to anyone wanting a lil challenge lol

please help me i want to learn this stuff but am very hesitant to make any changes that would be detrimental to the hawk

Definitely sounds like there is a shift kit in the trans already.

You can email your bin to ltxnova@yahoo.com if you want. I won't have time to look until Sunday, but maybe someone else will jump in here.

Not sure on the Trans Issue, probably a shift kit like JCZNova said. But as for your other question about the SES light missing, that will NOT cause any driveability issues.

Got the email. I will compare it to my stock files I have saved and let you know.

You can also wire up your own SES light. My car is a swap, and I wired one up. Just have to find the right wire to tap into, and I don't remember off-hand if the wire from the ECM is the ground or power side. It is either run power to the light, and the ECM grounds to illuminate, or it is ground the light and the ECM provides it power when a code pops. Then you can put the light anywhere you want as well. Instead of trying to pull apart your cluster and solder in a new bulb.

Just my $.02 on that one :D

Yea I put one on my last project (1981 tbi jeep cj8) I used ebl from dynamicefi for the puter tune....that way easier I just set it to ve learn for the maps and changed the scholars useing a set of spreadsheet I got from dynamic. Admittedly all I had to change was the divisor for the tire/axle gears

Im keeping the hawk as stock as possible so ill ebay a new holder lol

But thanks for the tips and in advance for any suggestions on the hawks tune!

Hey jcznova...I down loaded a couple more bins from here and they were way closer to my bin....
The others I downloaded must have been corrupt or I was useing wrong definitions...iv got a good base to start with now thanks!

Back to my research!!

Back to my research!!

Had to get a new battery for my laptop with all my tuning stuff on it. Finally fixed, and was about to check out your bin. So you have already loaded a stock one? How is that going? Big difference? Interested to hear some more.

Well I didnt load up a completly stock one, as I still havent figured out the tireand gear changes that need to b changed

But I found a bin were most of the data was close to mine and copied the fan on/off temps, changed the egr, vats, and air pump setting.

Then I started tweaking the tcc, dfco, shift speeds and shift times.....

Datalogging inbetween to observe the changes. Its realy neat watching the long term blms adjust =)

I did change my thermostat to a 180* (instead of a 160*)

Man what a difference, its like a totally different car and with 3.73's im getting nearly stock mpg (24 currently on the hwy) shifts so smooth!

The performance feel was completly taken away tho, so im currently tweaking when the performance button is pressed how it shifts =) iv got it close, but stills Datalogging to make sure I dont screw anyrhing up...hardest part iv found is getting the times and shift points to coincide right so it doesnt over rev out of the power band.

Oh I changed my fuel cut outs to 5000 so there will never be a danger of floating valves or redlining when anyone else drives my car =)

I believe SLP put an under pulley on the firehawks.. and don't be afraid to mod it ;) just as long as it's tasteful ! :D
