Anyone have any plans worth sharing for the fourth?

For the past 12 years I usually go to Florida to visit an old friend and celebrate my bday..his dads bday...and the 4th.

We usually rent a water front house and party for two weeks.... This year Miss Popo's new job is not affordin her enougj time to take more than our May OCMD CRUISIN week...and of course...the LTX SHOOUTOUT.

So anyways...I still took my two weeks off... 1st is almost over... And one to go...nice ME time.... To recoup...relax....heal....

Finally for the first time in 12 years...we can watch the fireworks...and maybe even go to the carnival and eat crap and play stupid games.

Nice and CHILLLLLLL

So thats US.

UR TURN PEEPS.

Angie and I usually go back to her parents' house and they bought fireworks (when they were illegal, now they're legal in MI) and shoot them off.

Funny and true story -- a handful of the neighbors in the sub would get in on funding the "fireworks run" to Indiana, they'd go to some place where they have "VIP Status" and at the very least get 2 for the price of 1 because they usually drop well over $1,000 while they're there. Anyway, they got so used to doing the firework show that they decided to have a fun project -- they made a plywood base with all their 3" mortar pipes built into it, then they dropped the balls in, fused them all together with staggering fuses, etc. The night of the 4th, they lit the fuse and stood back to watch the show (instead of having to run out and light a fuse each time they fire a firework off, now it was all "automated")

Well, they had gotten the reputation for shooting off fireworks so each year the local police would drive to people's houses who they know usually shoot 'em off and check on them. Sure as shit, fireworks going off and the cops show up. They tell my father in law to shut it down and he says "I can't - they're all fused together, I can't stop it now that it's lit!" The officer was pissed at first but then started laughing and said he was going to stay there until all the fireworks were done and that he'd supervise while him and all the neighbors cleaned up the street from all the debris. :lolsign: My FIL being the way he is offered him a beer while he waited, to which he obliged.

Working at GM, the week of 4th of July is the "shutdown" week - mandatory shutdown for all manufacturing while they retool the factories for 2014 models, but optional in corporate. I take the whole week off since most of the managers do. There's also Camaro Superfest just after the 4th of July. This year on Friday the 5th we're going to do road course at Waterford Hills and then go tour the GM Performance Build Center where they build the COPO Camaros, then the 6th and 7th (Sat and Sun) is the car show spent at a nice scenic park. :D

I work 6/1, 6/2, 6/3, 6/4, 6/5, 6/6, and I'm off on the 7th and 8th. I'm salaried, so no holiday pay. 5th and 6th are considered a special event though, and I'm a supervisor, so I'll get a decent bonus check in a month or so.

Our plan is the same tradition as every year: drive around in the early afternoon to scope out where they're setting up the city fireworks show, find the best spot as close as possible, go out to eat with all the extended family, set up camp in our fireworks spot, play games and such til showtime. :)
