I'm assuming mine is the BOSE system. My 96 Z28 already came with an aftermarket radio installed, a terrible Pioneer DEH-1400. The 5-speaker system actually sounds pretty damn good for stock. The sub is a bit boomy, though.

There is only one problem. I don't have any sound coming from the right speaker. I checked the harness adapter the previous owner had installed. It looks like the front speakers are wired properly. The left/right rear appear to both be going to the sub. I don't have any sound coming from the rear speakers, yet the rear sub works, and the sub volume is halved if I disconnect one or the other rear channel. Everything is run through the plug-in harness, and nothing is custom wired.

Are there any provisions in the harness adapter for the rear speakers? I was going to run new wires anyway, but was hoping to only have to do the front doors, as (I have read), the rear speakers are driven without any amps.

Both sail panel mids are wired directly to the rear sub, they pull power and signal from it. The fronts power and signal comes directly from the head unit and is amplified by the individual amps on each speaker. I'm not sure which harness adapter you're talking about, I'm assuming the head unit. That should be wired like any other stereo. The only difference is the Bose amp has an on/off signal wire (blue IIRC) which must be hooked up. If you have sound out of the rear sub, it should be wired up. Sounds like you may have an issue with the way the H/U harness is spliced, or just some bad speakers.

I do miss the Bose system, beats the hell out of Monsoon.

Thanks for the diagram. That proves it. I don't remember where I read that the rears were powered directly from the head unit. It definitely would have made things easier for the way I'd like to wire it. The head unit I just bought (Pioneer Deh-X7500HD) apparently allows the rear channels to be combined, and run directly to a low powered sub. I was hoping to eliminate the rear sub, and see how putting two mid/woofers in the sail panels would sound. There is no special splicing in the Head Unit adapter. Left and Right rear are wired properly, but I am only getting sound from the sub.

Another quick question I have. I temporarily wired up a set of CDT 6.5 components I had laying around. On past cars i have attached the crossovers inside the door with either double sided sticky tape, or by wire tying it to something. In the camaro, the window sits so low that there doesn't appear to be any room to put an external crossover inside the door.

And finally. What can I do about the terrible excuse for the front door speaker mount/housing? There is a 1/4" gap just above the lower right screw. If I push in on that side of the housing, I get a lot more bass from the speaker.

My brother has the Monsoon system in his 98 Z28. Sounds pretty good if you ask me.
