So I am looking at getting exhaust here in a few weeks and am not sure what exactly to do I got a quote from a local shop for a high flow cat. 2 1\2 in stainless and a magna flow muffler they quoted me around 750 does this seem high I mean I can get a cat back system for 500 bucks. Would just changing my cat and muffler be prety much the same? Help lol any recommendations

For the money, a Magnaflow Cat-Back can't be beat. Good quality stainless, nice looking tips, and a price that can't be beat. $750 for a muffler and cat replacement is WAY too much. Your location shows as Erie PA.....do you even have emissions there? If not, cat delete and call it a day.

the 750 is for a whole system with cat and back i still thought it was too much. remember this is for a v6 lol im trying to get the best sound lol without spending 750 lol

Ah for a v6. Use a stock v8 pull off. Ive heard those sound pretty good. So do true dual setups.

Speak to a couple of local shops to see what they might charge for install.
I have a local place here that I can send my customers to that quoted me $125-150 for installation.

At least you could save some money doing it this way.

To be honest there aren't really any sound clips out there that I can find on a V6.
But, I will tell you this. For years I have recommended Magnaflow. I liked their quality of work and the product so much I put one of their systems in my pick up.

However, when I came across OBX, I realized that it is also a quality product, seems to be well made, welds appear good.
I actually like it so much, that their exhaust and headers are going on my C5 Vette as we speak.
Their systems are extremely popular with the 4th & 5th gen Camaro owners and the LS crowd
And, you certainly can't beat the price!

There's plenty of sound clips of peoples 3.8s and I'm sure some have 3.4s with em. Albeit changing headers, cat and can will alter the sound. But damn that's a good deal on the magna flow. Its 527 anywhere else. If I didn't just buy a used exhaust locally I'd get that in a heartbeat

well as far as my cat goes I don't know how short or long I can go without having to mod a bolt up system. also is a shorter cat better? anyone lol

Best thing to do is measure what you currently have installed. You never know, it may have already been replaced once and isn't the same length as stock.

Alright so I did some measuring and I found a f body owner selling a brand new magnaflow high flow for 50 bucks its a good one lol. However it's 3 in. I'm not sure if my car can do 3 inch I I got a reducer from the manifold to the cat and then 3 inch to the muffler OR would another reducer after the cat to 2.5 inch be safe or would it have a negative affect in the sound?
