Which do you have more respect for, dyno sheet or time slips?

Why?

Time slips. Anyone can build a dyno queen with enough time and money. Takes some skill to be able to put out a low time slip. Can't buy a driver mod ;)

To elaborate on that even more - with enough money, anyone could build a car to have 5,000 horsepower and have great numbers, but if they can't put it down to the ground then it's no use burning rubber every time you try to drive anywhere

Time slip by far. The newer V6 "muscle" cars have impressive dyno numbers.

Time slips, though not necessarily E.T. If it's got a low E.T. and a huge trap speed, then the car has a low E.T. in it, unless it's a poopra. Then it's just stuck in the 11's.

Dynos are for tuning..... loads can be manipulated
Timeslips are the absolute truth, they factor in real weather conditions, can show driver skill or lack thereof. You can dial in suspension since your 60' tells all..
I have seen numerous cars dynoing big HP numbers and run like crap down the track. Should a 600hp 3600lb. car run ANYWHERE in the 11s HELL NO it shouldn't that should be in the strong 10s possibly 9s suspension willing.... A cam heads Lt1 putting down 370-400 can

This. It is SOOOO easy to manipulate a dyno. There are so many different data points that need to be entered into a dyno before you even begin the test, and any one of those can be manipulated.

Time slips are the tell all be all.

For me its about usability... although I do like bragging dyno sheets and braggin ET slips...

I have the most respect for vehicles that get driven....DD.....raced (drag or x).....

But just me, you guys know I dont race....

Time Slips, but even then you have to take them with a grain of salt. A lot of guys down here will wait for the coldest day with a massive negative DA to set their signature time slips. That's what I am waiting for atleast :)

Well yeah, but you can still look at the break down on the time slip to see if he's getting off the line or if his car is a late bloomer on the back half of the track. If he 60's terrible but makes it up on the backside then something is still wrong with the car, regardless of what personal best he set.

I'd rather be a track king than a dyno queen.

Time slips by far.
Things to look at and consider when looking at said time slip.
1 weight
2 mph
3 et
4 60ft or 330ft for a drag radial car.

mine is dyno and reliability. so in other words still getting 25+mpg and have 1000rwhp. every car is built different. if u build a strip car that gets towed there. that runs on alcohol and its fast. it is what it is but if u drive that 1000rwhp to work than there something there. thats me though

dyno queen that can drive across country and handle like a go cart......i have slowly lost interest in drag racing, its fun....but im not going to set up a car just for it. ill never break any records at the track but i wont have to load it on a trailer to take it home...

Its all about track times. I don't drag race my car. But on the track i run into guys talking about there dyno numbers. But they finish back in the field. Because the can't drive or/and poor setups. Lap times show the true threat of the car. Not there horsepower numbers.

Track times can be manipulated as well. There is a track south of me that has a very generous timing setup. If you can get to a good track, one known for NHRA national sportsman events then I believe the numbers.

Dyno numbers are all a lie, every run is adjusted to STP just so they correlate. I use dynos to look mainly at the curve but everyone always cares about the number.

Screw you for making me feel like an ass now. :shiner: My 700ish RWHP car is firmly planted in the 11's still. :(

Oh, and I will say, Track times and Trap speeds don't always tell the whole story either. On the street things are so much different. I've personally seen Ben's car which is a low 11's @ 135 so far outrun a proven 9 second LSx Nitrous Camaro.
