Wheres the best place to order a 4'' exhaust kit for a 95 camaro 383? I currently have long tubes with 3'' true duals with bullet mufflers. It sounds awesome but its just too loud for the street. Any recommendations? also the car is a solid roller cam car. In the tuning of the computer should the knock sensor be turned off? car is located in the detroit metro area.

Mufflex has a kit, or custom it up.

Mufflex as mentioned. You will likely need to get a y pipe fabbed depending on your header setup. It's not a quiet system if you go with the mangaflow muffler.

And its smaller than an truck exhaust

FWIW I'm running a single 3" with a cutout at the track. Don't get caught up in the hype about exhaust. Read the science behind and you realize size isn't the most important factor.

I run a 3.5 Mufflex system on my third-gen with a Spintech muffler. It sounds great and it is quieter than the x-pipe with bullets I was running before that.

Depends on the application.
The truck def saw a nice improvement in MPG and EGT from the large diameter exhaust, and the car will def be getting either a large cutout or as big a catback I can fit.

I have a 3.5" Mufflex on my car with a Borla XR-1 muffler. I bought the pipe kit from hawks 3rd gen and the muffler from Summit. I then built my y-pipe with a Flowmaster merge collector. The fit of the 3.5" is tight on my car and the MWC rear axle rubs on the pipe going over the axle, but I am pretty low, but have no idea what the drop is :)

Yes, but I mean large diameter isn't everything. You have to have flow, scavenging, proper merging and so on.

With a NA or SC application sure, but a turbo just mixes it all up and then you want it out as fast as you can. Bigger is bettaa
And yes, just being difficult. lol

Turbo does need to breath. But on NA a single 3 can support 500 HP effective. I would just get different muffler or a power stick(believe its called that) and quite it down that way. 4 inch exhaust creates a laundry lust of Clarence issues. And really isn't needed beyond saying i got a 4 inch exhaust(still tied to a 3 inch header)

I did my 3.5" because thats what I could fit, I would have done a 4" because I personally think they sound better than a 3" exhaust. I did the Borla muffler to be different than most others. I may add a Vortex insert into the tailpipe to try to kill a little bit of rap I get at ~2500rpms.
And remember that you have 2 3" collectors :)
So I basically did my exhaust for the different sound since my car makes ~400rwhp......for now :D

Ya thought you was talking about 4 inch duals lol. I never got into the over sized exhaust(peraonal taste). Im putting down 437whp with LT and a hooker cat-back. And sounds amazing! Granted i will need duals on my FI motor..

I had a 3" Pacesetter Y to a single 4" and dumped 1 chamber Flowmaster I made. Now I used the Y pipe to make a 3" X with dual 3" Flowmaster outlaw mufflers. If you considering new exhaust this is long but full of really good information: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/articles/hardcore/0505em_exh/viewall.html

I've seen the 4" Mufflex/Flowmaster single-out setup support over 1,100HP on an LT1. I ran one for several years with my engine - Modified AS&M Mid-lengths into a custom Mufflex 3" Y-pipe with a 3" Borla XR-1 in each branch, into 4" Flowmaster merge. The Borla's were flanged so they could be replaced with 3" CarSound cats on the street.
The 4" system is basically an "interference" fit going over the axle. The Flowmaster 30-series race muffler is loud, and has a very loud resonance at about 2,500 RPM that would make your chest throb. I rode in an LS1 with the Spintech dual-out muffler, belonging to the owner of Mufflex, and it was a lot more civilized.
From my experience, once you get past the collectors, you want minimum back-pressure. Scavenging is all about primary length and velocities.

An no, you do not want to run a knock sensor with a solid roller cam.
