View Full Version : Fuel Line Relocation Kit -- Live and Taking Orders!

What would you guys be willing to pay for a "budget" fuel line relocation kit. I know that Speed Inc sells or sold a kit made from -AN and braided lines, but that's pretty costly at about $150+ IIRC.
At my job, I have access to OEM style/quality nylon line and very high quality quick connects. These wouldn't look 100% factory but would look as close as possible to it. they would eliminate the need for fuel line disconnect tools as the quick connects have a push lock on them that works very well. The lines would be clamped to the connectors, using pinch clamps like you see on CV Boots.
I'm going to be doing this to my car just to clean up the big loop of hose i have under the fender well. Best part is these connectors are low profile so you really wouldn't have any bulky fittings to wrangle around, and they're straight so doing the relocate there's no odd bends or curves going into the fuel rail lines. I'm estimating a $75 shipped cost per kit, and it would very simply be a plug and play affair, with OEM sized 3/8 and 5/16 lines.
Here's an example of what the fitting would look like

So would this be something you guys would be interested in?
*EDIT*
Pre-Orders will ship out on Wednesday the 15th.
My website is live and ready to order these now!

You know I was just looking up a fuel line relocation kit this morning, but SpeedInc. doesn't seem to have the LT1 kit anymore. I'm curious to see what this would look like after installation (the final product). Get some pics when you do it, I might be interested soon. :)

Yeah, as I was typing this post I checked Speed Inc's site and couldn't find it. traitors. This will be very subdued, not very visible at all TBH.

Sean I think this would sell pretty good. It's a pretty small market but you could sell enough to pay for your time.

Ok, because my cash flow is so tight, I'm going to do a pre-order at a discounted price. That discounted price will be $70 shipped, after that we're looking more like $85-90 shipped because parts aren't cheap. That said, to get this off the ground, I'm going to do 5 x pre-orders. As soon as we have 5 takers, I'll accept payment, order parts, and get your kits out. I think you all know that I'm legit and not gonna screw anyone. Respond if you want to go ahead and get your name in on the pre-order, and I'm going to update the first post with the initial list. If there's enough interest, I'll buck the pre-order from 5 to 10.

this is awesome Sean! FWIW I pieced mine together with Russel parts and braided lines and it was about $200 with shipping mainly cause the push on rail adapters were prone to leaking and I needed to re do them with the 2 piece screw on ones. Let me tell you, if I knew these parts existed I would have gone this way instead of the way I did. Getting the lines hooked up under the car was a huge PIA and a mess. Also the SS lines are fat and tight to snake in the inner fender.

That's freaking awesome that I've gotten 3 commits already. You guys freaking rock. Two more and I'm good to run with this. Going to talk to a couple of vendors tomorrow and see about lining up an order.

Sweet, I'm glad to see this get rolling. I'd love to get in on this first round, but I'm broke as shit right now :( I'll have to wait to get mine, but I am excited to see how they look and, if possible, a good detailed write-up how-to for us newbies :D

So this would be plug and play on both ends? Maybe a dumb question but I've never seen where or how the fuel lines are connected under the fender. I may bite on this as an early birthday present to myself :)

Plug and play on both ends. they're not connected anywhere but the fuel rails and then under the drivers seat under the car. They just route through the fender well both in stock routing and with the relocation mod that this kit is designed for. Best part about the kit is that it allows you to do the relocation mod with aftermarket components thus negating the huge loop in the fuel lines and the funky connector angles of the stock lines after the mod, but doesn't add any bulk to the lines like doing an -AN line conversion would. Plug and play, and once the old lines are out, the front lines are completely toolless.

Fastbird

I am expecting delivery of parts next week probably with shipping starting ASAP after I get parts. Once I make this initial order for the pre-order folks, the price will be going up significantly (30% ish) so if you want in at the $70 price I need to know.

Thank you! AFAIK, now that Speed Inc quit making their kit, this is (going to be) the only off the shelf option out there. It's not braided, but it doesn't carry the cost, size, weight, or installation difficulty the braided stuff does either.

Have you considered making a braided version, I'd go for the upgrade at an increased costs.
Fastbird
05-04-2013, 06:41 PM
Ok, I could put a braided setup together, but the adapter fittings for the GM lines are prohibitively expensive. I may look into it, but it won't be until after I get this up and running full first.

Argh, I screwed up guys. Still not used to this "home box" and "work box" setup. Forgot my fuel line disconnect tools (my car is what the original measurements and kit will be designed from) so I can't pull it apart today (I just grabbed the box and walked out to the garage, and wen't DOH!).
Tomorrow it'll get done, packages should start going out Tuesday or Wednesday.

I was taking pics, but really the most important thing to see is where to cut the hole to break them through. Which I got a good pic of. The rest is rather simple and very easily understood when you look at it.
Everyone, my website now has these LIVE and ready to order. Just be advised that I'm not going to keep a large stock of parts on hand so when you order expect me to not ship for approx 5-7 days. Other than that, these are ready to go!!!

I'm with you on this one. I made my own braided line kit and didn't cut the fittings on my rails. I think this would be cleaner looking than what I ended up with. Sean, do they have 90 degree fittings available?

Got mine installed today, wasn't to bad except the nylon hose will kink pretty easily.
I started yesterday evening but had kink problems so I decided to let the fuel lines sit out in the sun all day today. That seemed to help a lot with the bends.
I would recommend letting the fuel lines warm up or using a hair dryer in the bend areas to relax the nylon. I didn't take any under car pics(dirty car), but snapped this shot of under the hood.
Also the rubber boots on the rail do a nice job of covering the quick disconnects
Fastbird
05-22-2013, 08:41 PM
I'd recommend caution with the hair dryer. When I was playing with them initially, I tried a low setting on my heat gun, and it folded over quickly! Granted, a hair dryer and heat gun on low are two different things, lol.
Looks good man, and you can get rid of the rubber covers on the rails since they won't be needed. Lengths ok on the lines? Any recommendations or critiques? Mind if I use your picture?
*Edit* Looks like you were editing as I was typing. I see why you left the rubber covers now. Good call, I didn't think they'd fit.

feel free to use any pics I post. I'll get a better pic tomorrow of the whole drivers side, that was just a quick pic to show some friends.
Guys with sfc's may have some trouble, I needed to unbolt the front side to give myself room to place the hose. Besides that the only thing was keeping the hose from folding at the bend areas.
Length seems to be just right to where everything flows smoothly.

Jay,
I can do that, just send me a PM when you're ready. It'll be a little more cause the 90* fittings are more expensive, and the longer lines, but it won't be bad. I thought you had an LT4 manifold/rails setup....didn't realize you were still on your 93 stuff.
