alright heres the scoop, im pretty well into the bolt ons: electric waterpump, lt's, ory, catback, msd opti, good wires, elbow, cai, airfoilthingymagiggy, basic tune, 160 stat. seriously thinking of camming my motor. well i want to, but i want honest opinions.

background: got the car well taken care of, biggest turn off was high miles. synthetic oil its entire life, mostly highway miles, guy drove it 100 miles one way to work every day for a couple years. compression is good across all cylinders. currently sitting pretty at 212,400 miles. doesnt burn oil, no metal in pan or filter etc.

if i do it with a complete cam kit from AI or LE, or a hotcam with all the necessary stuff and obviously not rev it past 5900, do you guys think its either a worth it or b it will live? it will have all new valvetrain (rockers, lifters, pushrods, springs, seals, locks retainers, etc)

My personal experience I've been told never do a cam by itself on a high mileage motor, but it's mainly for the sake of the rest of the valve train, however if your doing heads too then your most likely gonna have new springs, rockers, etc so it should be ok. That's just my .02 you might want to wait for someone with more experience to chime in.

Cam bearings would be my primary concern with that many miles. You are rolling the dice but as long as its not a DD and you can spring for a new (used) shortblock, then go for it.

That would definitely be in your favor. Most engine wear is on startup, short trips are worse on an engine than long trips. If you feel the engine has been well taken care of, I say go for it. Is this your DD by the way?

it is but it isnt, i do have another accessible vehicle to run around in, but i do drive the car most of the time. i tend to stay away from short trips though, its kinda nice living in the middle of nowhere, everything is more than 10 miles

I'd just keep saving and do a complete build. You'll be able to completely customize your engine for the power you want to make and know it will hold up.

meh, i guess ill stall it at like 3400 for now and run around like that.
