I was driving home from work last night and a stock sounding red GT find his way through traffic to get up next to me and gives me a look. You know the kind of look when they think they're hot sh*t in their car. Anyway, I kinda smile and downshift, I'm guessing he did as well I couldn't really hear his car over mine, we hit it from about 30 in 2nd for me and I pull a half car instantly, I nail 3rd and he "tries" to speed shift 3rd but he literally was off the gas for a good 3-4 seconds, I pulled another car while he was navigating through his tremec to the land of 3rd gear. I shut it down at about 70-75 and he's about 2 maybe 1.5 lengths back. I was thinking it'd be a dead heat, 305hp vs 310, but like I said he couldn't shift worth a crap.
Undefeated in the SS so far. Lol
I have a race setup with a pullied lightning tonight, I'm expecting big fat L on that one, though.

I will say that these F-Body's are much easier to powershift then any of my Cobras or Mustangs

Especially if you get a nice short shifter stick, if you don't have one yet. It's *almost* impossible to miss 3rd with one of those (you pretty much have to try to miss 3rd to mess it up lol).

That lightning would have to be pushing some pretty good power to make up for the weight disadvantage. Let us know how that turns out!
NOICE!
What is sweeter than taking down the Mustang? I think it actually edges out taking down the Goats… or ANY of the ricer variants… and please, who doesn't enjoy walking the Euro-piles? "It's an M6 my good man…" Well hey… maybe the M7 will get it done, old boy. There's always hope, right?
Great kill!

I ordered a MGW shifter last week, I have the factory Hurst shifter now, its not too bad, but nothing compared to the MGW.

MGW shifters are sex. I have one in my 5th gen and love it.

I'm installing mine as I type this. Anyone have a trick to getting the old actual shifter off? Not the stick/handle, but the base where it meets with the trans. They've RTV'd the crap out of it and I can't get it off there.

Hit it with a bfh lol. Jokes aside use a screwdriver that will fit in the bolt holes and angle it to go between the plate and trans and tap it in to free it up. Otherwise use the factory handle and push it side to side.

It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning

The MGW is a NIGHT/DAY difference, if you miss 3rd with this shifter, you need to trade your car for an auto. Lol I did a 1/4 mile pass in the car yesterday(we have a place marked exactly a 1/4) and the car was right at 100-101mph at the end, I may take it to the track tomorrow night and see if I can get a 13.6X out of it.

Good job! BTW I'm highly jealous of how simple the install is on the T56 setups. On the 5th gens you have to get under the car, unbolt a heat shield in the driveshaft tunnel and move it out of the way, then unbolt the crossbrace for the transmission so the trans sags down, then you have to reach up and remove a pin that links the shifter to the transmission, undo some bolts for mounting points, etc, etc. On a 5th gen, swapping to the MGW shifter takes ~4 hours to do if you're taking your time.

Dang that sounds like a bitch! Also I'd like to confirm that the 100-101mph traps were verified with a gps. Lol
