Ok, I have a 2002 Malibu that I recently did a engine R&R on. The car was running up till I parked it in the spot where I yanked the engine out. The donor was a also running yet totaled 2002 Malibu. We performed the swap and did everything in reverse of removal. On first start attempt, we got the dreaded solid theft light. We bought a bypass module and installed and the car still did not start. It just cranks and cranks. Now for the tricky part...the other night out of boredom I decided to just try and crank it over to see if anything happened The car fired up and idled perfectly. I topped of fluids and brought the car up to operating temp, fans kicked on at temp. Awesome, I shut the car down and yet again no start. I looked over things and made the decision to swap out the crankshaft position sensor with the one off of the old engine. Queue me dropping my phone in the oil pan...30 mins later I come out and hit the key for shit and giggles. Car fires and runs again but without the CPS plugged in. Also, when the car ran both times the tach was no working where it was before.

UPDATE: SOLVED!!! Did some chasing yesterday as well as replaced the 24x crank sensor. I ended the day with testing the 7x sensor as well and low and behold...bad AC Voltage. My multimeter has the capability of a digital ociliscope on the bottom. The sensor should have a fluctuation range from .3V AC to 1.0V AC. Sensor is showing at .9V constant with and flat lining the scope. Now to just get to the damn thing. While I'm at it I'm going to replace the 2ft of cranked loom and wiring in the pigtail also...no chances for failure.
