I like to use a stepper bit. makes a nice clean hole for socket to fit right in. Done dozens of em at work.

Yep. Step bits make this a nice smooth job.

are the replacement window motor's any better than stock...the windows seem to be like tar in winter time...and i wasnt sure if it was worth to change out or not...pending if the new ones would work any better

Negative Ghost Rider, they will be good for the next 5-10 years like the orginals and go out again. You can add a hot wire kit to help out a bit, but thats the nature of the beast.

Another way to make them last longer is to grease the sliders. That grease gets all gunked up and hardened over the years. That way the motor works less.

I swear by that. I ordered two new motors several years ago. While awaiting the delivery, I removed the door panel and greased the tracks. The results were so good, the new motors are still in their shipping box in the garage. The originals are still in use, 15 years now.
