View Full Version : Need help on fuel line sizing

I'm putting new fuel lines in my monte carlo lt1 project. I upgraded to a buick gn tank and pickup and it has a 3/8" hose barb for the supply and a 1/4" for the return. It seemed backwards but I verified this with a set of dial calipers. I measured the stock lines and they look to be 5/16" supply and 3/8" return. I'm going to run summit aluminum lines. What size should I run? I was thinking of running 3/8" with -6an fittings for both. Thoughts?
Edit: even though I'll never need that much fuel I would like to be able to support 1k horse.

Stock is 3/8 feed and 5/16 return OR -6AN feed and -5AN return. The return is attached to the FPR which is on the back of the 1,3,5,7 rail and feed goes directly onto the back of the 2,4,6,8 rail and has the psi check port. I woulds stay with a 3/8 feed and 5/16 return, if you have some fab skills you can use some Y blocks and a universal regulator to make it a parallel system vs the stock series.

I'd run a 1/2" supply

I agree 1/2" would be best but there are guys making 700+ hp with stock lines

I ran both lines -6 on the Nova swap, should be good for what I will be running in the next few years.

Thanks for the input guys. I went with 1/2" supply and 3/8" return. Probably overkill but the cost difference between sizes was less than $20

Good call. Especially for the SS build plan.
