There is a whining noise coming from my rear end of my 95 Firebird Trans Am, LT1, A4.
The noise is still there even with the car off and in neural just rolling I can hear it increase with vehicle speed.
The noise has been there since I bought the car almost a year ago.
I'm wondering If the rear end gears have been changed out or upgraded.
Hopefully nothing is wrong with it.
Any one else experience this whining noise?
If the rear end gears have been changed or upgraded, how could I tell?

Some aftermarket gears are noisy...
But... If u dont know... Have it checked for bearing wear/failure.

Thanks for the input everyone,
I'm hoping theres already 3.73 gears in there, Lol
One less mod I have to do.
Worst case scenario, bearing's need replacing.
Sounds kinda cool, but this is my first fourth gen car with posi,
and the fact that I have never heard anyone elses car make that whining sound was starting to worry me.
I am hopeing the speedo was not calibrated for the gears so I can check it against my GPS or another car driving side by side.
The car has allot of balls at launch and seems to sit higher in the rpm's at highway speeds.
I'm thinking it has gears.
The idiot I bought the car from didn't take care of it and couldn't recall what mod's had been done to it.
