Hey guys im very new to the forum. Ive looked through a bunch of threads trying to find the anwser and i geuss i might just need a more straight forward one. What do i all need to tune my lt1. I understand i need to burn a chip or mod it so i can flash a tune? Or would it be easier to just swap to a 94 computer and get rid of all that crapola? Also is it possible to tune while i drive, is there a way around the 93 computer? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to move up to a bigger shot of n20 and get my tune fixed along with the weird problem i have with an off idle stumble. Thanks Andy

I am in the same boat as you but I am working on doing the burn thing to mine, hit up Popo8 as he is gauging interest in doing a loan program for the stuff to do tunes.

Np... Saw one for sale not to long ago...

A piggy back or stand alone system will also be an option.

so what can you do to burn them or what do you need? I know you could run megasquirt. But im kinda low on the mula right now since it would cost around 800 for everything. To burn i imagine you need to send your pcm out to get done?

What I have is the burn2, the aldl cable, tunerprort, the g1 adapter and 2 blank chips, the HRD1 memcal adapter for reading your stock memcal chip in the pcm but you have to remove the memcal from the pcm but you have to do that to instal the adapter for your newly burned chip anyway, mine is now running on the newly burned chip but all thats on it is the stock tune at the moment because I havent made any changes to my 255k mile stock setup yet.

Pull PCM out and lay it on its back and pull the bracket its attached to off and remove the cover, once the memcal cover is off there are 2 clips holding the memcal in and all you do is push them down and pull the chip asy out.
Moates.net has good info on this stuff and there are some great write ups here as well in the pcm tuning section but yeah if your going to do this then you better do what I have been doing and start reading, you will be better off.

Two 10mm bolts remove the computer from its mounting point. 10mm nuts hold the ECM into the mounting cradle on the sides. Remove the ECM from the cradle, flip over to see the access panel. There are four 7mm bolts holding the cover plate on. Once in you'll see the memcal chip. There are two white latches on either end. Push those down and away from the chip and it pops up and free. BE SURE TO NOTE THE ORIENTATION.

When I did mine the cover bolts were actually 1/4 inch because the 7mm socket I had ready to go for it was too big, I dunno if its just mine but the bolts look factory.
