I'm about to spend $2500 on some AI TFS heads and I have the money and this is what Ive been saving for. But man I cant seem to to hit that submit button. I think its genetic or anxiety or somethen. I hate making big purchases. Last time I went through this I bought my F.A.S.T. Wide band. Anybody else get that feeling?

Nope. It's just money, you can't take it with you! LOL. I sold my 94 PG vette today. I've already spent 3500.00 of the 3700 I made.

Me too. If you saved to for it you deserve it. As long as my bills are paid. My car comes first.

The only time I have ever had apprehension about a purchase was when I cut a 28k check for my house.

I feel the same way with any purchase over $100 lol

Lol reminds me of paying $4k straight up for classes every damn semester :( I know the feeling you're talking about. But as stated above, you saved up for it and planned for it, so you should feel good about making the purchase you've been waiting for lol. If not, save up just a little extra to feel like you have a buffer of extra money should something go wrong after purchase and you should feel calmer about hitting that submit button. ;)

I used to not get that feeling. Now that money is tighter, my gut tightens whenever I spend money on non-essential things, and I literally sit down and map out if I can really afford it or not. Like I'm getting ready to do with a fairly expensive tool purchase I'll be setting into motion next week when the Snap-On guy comes around.....

It depends on the purchase. I paid cash for my new G8 GT and didn't fret a bit. I bought an S60 and kept second guessing the purchase. One was $32,000 the other was $2300.

Large buys i will usually ponder over for a few days and look at my finances several times even if in the back of my head i know i can afford it.

It depends what it is for me. I am usually cheap except for my main hobbies, my formy, videogames and various sports. After building the 383 for my formy spending money on it doesnt bother me. 8k in the engine and 3k in the tranny kinda got me over the big price tag issue....then 2300 for brakes. If i have the money i dont mind spending it....i only get nervous when i dont really have much money haha

I tend to put the big ticket things in the shopping cart online. And then let the laptop sit there. with the page left open for a day or 2. Then buy it.

Im cheap and hate spending money. That's why i actually have money in the bank. But sadly anytime i buy something for the car. Im always spending 500.00 at the minimum. And I usually have buyers remorse till the parts come in. Then i get excited when they do. And forget about what i spent. lol

Big money purchases? Collectively I have $2500 purchasing both of my current fbodies lmao. I don't spend much. Counting purchase price right now I'm at $2700 in the z not counting a few parts I'm getting tomorrow. The ws6 I had altogether I had roughly $3500 in it and that's counting 2 sets of tires, full stainless exhaust (longtubes, ory, used stainless corsa catback $300, split lock bolts, otvc, seal 4 good gaskets, and emission block off plates), full new red leather swap, all the overlays/stripes, and purchase price.

Damn dude. I added it up. Right now as it sits, all 4 of my fbodies have a total of $9600 in them give or take a few dollars. My 94 formula had a 357 in it (same one in the ltx cobra project), my 96 ws6 was an extremely clean 6spd with full stainless exhaust as stated (oh and aa pcm4less tune), my 94 z is bone stock with midtubes, and the 2000 Firebird is a ltx swap that hasn't commenced yet.

I have zero issues spending money...... its the wife who has issues with me spending money.....haha.

To be honest, she has been ok with what I have bought through the years and car builds. It got even easier for her once I bought her the trans am. What kind of upset her was when I had my red z all done and then I went out and bought another one and sold my son the red one as a roller. After it was all said and done she dropped it and no is to the point of asking me.... are you done yet...well kinda...

My wife usually just tries to ignore it when I buy stuff. I don't usually buy full price though unless I have to, so it's usually easy to pitch as a good deal. I pay the bills and such first though, like a good responsible citizen, so she's come to accept my habit lol.

My wife does the same. She sees me pulling Wilwoods out of boxes. Or opening a box with a new T56. and just walks away. I thank she would rather pretend it was free. then know real cost. lol

Hey, in the end as long as the RESPONSIBILITIES are covered.... does it really matter?

Its when people max credit cards that they can never pay off, or when they dont pay bills to mod cars... or when they drop out of school to make a few bucks rather than finishing...

In Houston, we have a lot of big LSX race shops here and at one point big LTx shops when they were new. I have seen a lot of guys over the years who buy a Corvette or what ever and go nuts. A lot of time on credit and a lot of time racking up serious debt. The end result is often a car their scared of or a car they don't want. From what I have learned what costs the most is changing set ups and paying people, in the end both often equate to doing things twice. If you know what you want and are some what realistic, you can always part out and get some money back. The thing is, the first one you build you're going to make mistakes because you may think you do, but you don't really know what you want. I went nuts on my 93 and I regret some things, but it was a cheaper car to learn on then say the C6 I own now.

That is what happens when people are stupid when the build cars. Never spend what you don't got. I always put bills first. then car

I just wish all the parts i need wasnt so expensive. Still hoping to find that FI 800 HP LT1 for 1.00 lol

So you bought them?

I'm curious about the build if it warrants those heads, sounds like a LSayer!

AI does good work and their parts hold value. I'd only be worried if you were buying from a shady company on a "to good to be true' type deal.

I had a similar feeling when I sent out the cash for my Corvette that I bought on ebay... very nerve racking until it arrived.

Yea. I pulled the trigger a couple days ago. These are going on a 355 with a Eagle rotating assembly I purchased with the block. I have all the boltons and full 3" exhaust. Pistons are JE/SRP -5 flat tops. The heads are 58cc and with a 1074 gasket static comp should be around 11:1. This is the part were some may disagree but this is just how its going down. I know the heads are a tad on the big side for he cubes and compression but I think it should still make 420+ to the wheels through an m6 and stock rear. The final place for these heads will be a SR 383 that will be done in the summer which will suite the heads alot better. I'm confident it'll run a good number.

Bersaglieri
02-11-2013, 08:51 AM
It'll be fine on a 355, but they'll compliment a nice 383 later as well. Buy it once rather than twice like I always seem to.

Is the 224/236 for sale, if so let me know.
