Hi gents my name is Luis I just bought a 1988 firebird a week ago. I don't know much about these cars but from just working on it this past week, I have learned a few things and diy'd a lot of stuff.

Now on to the pix!

Added a b&m shifter

Engine is relatively clean

Body needs new paint

Also added a sound system since it was running stock speakers.

Just did an oil change added 4qt of royal purple and 1qt of oil stabilizer.

Drained the radiator of the cruddy Brown water and replaced it with straight coolant.

Some issues that I am having

1. When I turn off the engine the coolant.reservoir overflows with boiling coolant

2. The seats are horrible.. any aftermarket seats that you guys would recommend to replace the front two seats?

3. Looking to upgrade spark plugs, ect.. any websites I can get a deal for parts ?

4. Graphics.. looking to restore this bad boy's exterior to the original trans am so where could I get original decals, or maybe someone could post pix of a completely restored 88 (gen 1?)

Btw the car has 130,000 miles.. any must do's at this mileage ?

I'm a noob at this, so plz be gentle

First off, welcome. A couple of things. When you say you filled it with straight coolant did you buy the premixed 50/50 coolant or did you put 100% coolant? If it was the latter, you should drain it again and mix it 50/50 with distilled water. As for "When I turn off the engine the coolant.reservoir overflows with boiling coolant" I would replace the radiator cap and make sure it is of the proper psi.

Solid diagnosis! I replaced the radiator cap (6$) and no more overflowing! I'm running the pre mixed 50/50 coolant. I'm not sure if anyone could answer this question but the left fan on the radiator (looking at it from front) is that for the a.c.? Or to cool the radiator?
