3 of my fbodies have been hardtops. Really wanting a ttop or vert lol.

As for the hand its actually a woman's hand and I'm not sure. They claimed meat grinder or paper schredder. The first would knaw it up much more as I've seen in the past. The latter I'm not sure how a hand would fit into it.

And my T-Tops don't leak unless I'm going through a car wash that's spraying pressurized water at it, and even then it's not bad, but in regular rain I have no leaks, so I guess I'm lucky? Idk if the original owner ever re-did the weatherstripping, but I know I haven't touched it at all since I got it.

Huh, I never tried sliding it cuz I didn't want to scratch the A-pillar since the center-most edge is wider than the outer-most edge where the bar locks into place. Just seemed like common sense to me lol. Good to know though, thanks. I'll make sure to not let anyone do that to my car haha.

Yeah its a very common issue. Mine were folded the day I got it. I tried to straighten them but it was too late. Picked up a set of low mileage seals and they were fine. Been debating on ttopping the bird.

I got luck on my 95. my tops never leaked. except if i hit the back part of the driver side by the latch. and then it would have one drop going down the window.

Is there a lip on a factory ttops car? I susoect the lip is only there to support the roof and is not there on a ttops car. As this car was convertered I think the seal is wrong. As it stands now I cant put yhe metal trim rails back on the sides and the glass sits higher than the ttops

I did have a firebird that I rolled and the windshield was replaced in it an looked exactly like yours. I always thought it was because the frame was tweaked but now I wonder if its just the replacement windshield

Alot of the problem with you car is they let the A pillers drop when the cut it for the Tops. From the pics, it looks like the top of the A sagged 1/2". Thats why you are have the leaks. The seal they used is a generic universal molding/seal combo. They didn't use the correct camaro seal/trim.


The A piller problem is what delayed GM offering the T top is early 93's

Its a camaro t-top seal just the previous owner put that rtv on it to try and prevent the leaks. I have some weather stripping in the trunk to put in but now its raining.

Its a separate piece. Id say he blasted yours off in the process and either didn't put it back on or broke it. You can have this one if it doesn't disintegrate when I remove it

So, referencing my picture, it looks like the trim should seal over the little lip that can be seen.

What I am getting at, should that lip be there at all on a T-top car or is it only there on a Hardtop to support the roof which can be removed and have the glass r/r again to be sealed properly

Hold it out when you place the ttop. It might reform but your going to have to leave the ttops in for awhile and always double check that its not folded when you put them in. The back side is made the same way so check it as well.

I was always anal about getting the tops to sit in the seals properly. A hair dryer or heat gun should soften the rubber enough to reform it. The only time mine leaks is when I go through a pressure wash.

If I gave everyone the undivided and quality time out of my evening after working all day to every jackwagon that requested information that afternoon with as much respect and care as he does, I would have to go home and beat my wife and kick the dogs just the keep the balance of good and evil in check in the world.


Anyways I took required seat pressures specd by comp cams for the cc306. Found a set that fit the bill and jumped on them. What I didn't consider is that pressure is rated at atmospheric pressure, not under boost. So at 15 pounds per square inch and an intake valve with a surface area on the backside of roughly 4 square inches, the same spring would be about 60# too light at full boost......

I know. I should have started there first. I was dead set starting this build that I was going to do it on a budget. I think I sis a damn good job of picking up deals on the board but I made a few mistakes. I think the cc306 would make the power I was after but I'll never spin it high enough to warrant giving up the low end. As a matter of fact I'll have the m122 maxed out at 6k with the pulleys I'm running. If the machinist has already installed the springs, I'm just going to have him add shim to get the seat pressure where it should be and go with it. I'm afraid at this point if I go in ans start changing stuff I'm going to have him get into the heads while he's at it. And I want this thing done like yesterday

Iirc 224/230 on a 112lsa .565 lift. Not very heavy really. Its why I figured the springs would be sufficient but with the higher lift and being shimmed for seat pressure we would be creeping up on coil bind.

So going off-topic here real quick, I didn't feel like starting a whole new thread just to ask a quick question lol. I recall reading somewhere before that Kooks I think has the best ground clearance for longtubes, is that correct? If so, where do you guys recommend looking to pick up a set? I need the stupid AIR and EGR fittings still cuz my car still has to pass emissions here. I did a quick google search and came up with a site called Sho-Me Speed selling a set for $870. What else would I need to install these going from bone stock manifolds and exhaust to headers? They bolt right up to the exhaust system without issue?
